This smart and efficient new build was carefully slotted into a tight garden plot within the grounds of the client’s previous home in Budleigh Salterton. With limited space and close neighbours on all sides, the challenge was to create a light-filled and spacious-feeling three-bedroom home that respected its surroundings while maximising every inch of available footprint. Through clever massing, thoughtful detailing, and sensitive use of materials, we were able to gain planning permission for a modest yet striking new dwelling that feels private, modern, and characterful. The crisp combination of timber, render, and metal cladding offers a contemporary contrast to the more traditional surrounding buildings, while inside, the vaulted dining space and carefully placed windows draw light deep into the home. This is a great example of what can be achieved with intelligent design on a compact urban site — proving that small plots can deliver big impact.
