Majoriaq
Majoriaq centres function as a link between education, training, the labour market and the business community. There is a total of 17 Majoriaq centres; one in every town. It is a municipal organisational unit that takes care of all the case management, guidance and upgrading of qualifications for the labour market and education.

Our journey begins as an extension of the Padre Suarez Institute during the 1990-91 academic year with only four groups and no teaching staff of its own. In the 1991-92 academic year, the “Extension” that was born the previous year acquired autonomy and independence from the Parent Center and was constituted as an independent Institute, IES No. 1.

The ”A Rocca” Artistic and Cultural Organization is a private organization with huge experience in the field
of the Life Long Learning and Europe for Citizens Programs.
A Rocca organises European Projects where the source of funding comes from the Life Long Learning
Program and the DG Culture of the European Commission.

Sudurnes Comprehensive College is roughly comparable with tertiary level schools in Britain and the last two years of High School and the first two years of College in the United States. The diploma received after completing the academic field of studies qualifies students for entrance to Icelandic universities and is recognized by most European and North American universities.

CEPROF is the owner of Escola Profissional de Espinho, a VET school and it was created
in the 1990. Its vocation is the promotion of school centres and vocational schools. It
aims to contribute to the personal and professional skills of learners, preparing them
to the job market. It promotes the approach between schools and enterprises and
provides learning opportunities according to the local and national needs.

Majoriaq are Job, Guidance and Qualification centres in Greenland and there are 17
centres which are placed in the cities. The purpose of the Majoriaq is to qualify young
people and adults to improve their general skills and competencies so that they can
start training or education.
