When We Finally Understood What Was Happening
Our daughter Emily was eight years old when she began mentioning something unusual.
Every morning she would offer some variation of the same observation.
“My bed felt crowded.”
At first, we dismissed it.
Children often describe dreams, restless nights, or sensations that are difficult to explain. We assumed there was a simple reason and expected the comments to fade.
Instead, they continued.
Eventually, concern replaced curiosity.
We felt responsible for understanding what our daughter was experiencing.
