NETPAC Jury; Celine Roustan, Dr Ahmed Saeed & Bina Paul at the closing of the 46th Cairo International Festival

46th Cairo International Film Festival

The 46th Cairo International Film Festival was conducted in the capital city of Egypt from the 12th to 21st Nov 2025. This was the second year that a NETPAC Jury had been invited and it is collaboration that is worth maintaining and cultivating. The festival program contained about 140 films (including shorts) and a parallel Market Section ‘Cairo Industry Days’ which was into it’s fifth edition.

With a realistic tone in the first part, before sliding into sensory surrealism in the second, "Vimukt" is an accomplished feature film which received the NETPAC Award “For offering an indelible tale of tolerance, desperation and faith, conveyed through a unique lens of realism and poetics, elevated by striking performances”, as the NETPAC jury's citation indicates.

82nd Venice International Film Festival

With around 140 titles screened, including feature films, documentaries, and special projects, and 21 films in competition, the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, organized by La Biennale di Venezia and directed by Alberto Barbera, sold 103,033 tickets and accredited 13,934 people. Among the first Asian films in competition was Park Chan-wook's “No Other Choice,” about workers who are willing to kill each other rather than be fired.
