We, the Support Personnel of Nassau County, are some of the first people children see daily. Did you know Education Support Professionals:

  • live in our school district
  • are active in out community
  • are educated and well trained
  • are dedicated and committed
  • are experienced
  • work to keep our schools and safe
  • car deeply for our students and their successes

Education support professionals are the fastest growing membership group within the national Education Association. Nationwide, there are about one-half million NEA members who are ESPs, making NEA the nation’s largest organization of education support professionals!

More than four outof every 10 public school employees are education support professionals (ESPs) who work together with teachers and administrators to help ensure the basic right of every child to attend great public schools.

Education support professionals perform a variety of jobs that promote quality education, foster positive learning environments, provide nutritious meals, and maintain safe and clean schools for all students. ESP job families include:

maintenance workers, mechanics, bus drivers, paraprofessionals, bookkeepers, secretaries, data entry operators, and cafeteria workers.

Our jobs are important to ensure that the children of Nassau County are well prepared to graduate with a high school diploma.

We are not “just support personnel”, we are Educational Support Professionals. We are NESPA!

Phyllis Alderman

Secretary

My name is Phyllis Alderman. I am currently a Paraprofessional at West Nassau High School as Administrative Assistant to three Guidance Counselors. I have been employed with Nassau County School for the past 20 years. My goals and aspirations are to give my best service of support to our staff, students and to fellow coworkers. One of my greatest achievements is being apart of a strong Union who fought on my behalf when I needed them the most. It is my pleasure to serve as your site rep as well as secretary for NESPA. I look forward to working with our President Marian Philips and other committee members.
