WORKING!! @ FanimeCon 2011

Hey, guys! This is a post regarding your possible interest in a WORKING!! cosplay group at Fanime 2012.

Also, if someone has a hold feel free to express interest anyway in case it doesn't work out! I will probably open this up to others later if I can't fill all the slots, but I wanted you guys to have first pick.

So! As a result of my car explodingtroubles, I had to empty out my cosplay fund account to contribute it to building my emergency fund back to its pre-explosion state. I also need to buy a new car sooner rather than later and do something about this little holiday called Christmas that's coming up. I can't in good conscience use money I need for important things on a hobby that (while I love it) I consider trivial at basic view. Because of that my attendance at Anime Los Angeles (and to a more extreme extent, Katsucon.) is up in the air. I would love to go, but not if I achieve it by means I consider to be irresponsible. I'll be gathering up more wigs and costumes to sell on the cosplay.com marketplace soon, but I also wanted to point out that while I don't advertise it so much any more, I do take wig commissions. I'm open for 2011!

I've been styling wigs for several years now -- wigs I've styled have been in Cosmode and Cosmode USA a number of times. My prices are inexpensive and most customers I get are repeat customers, which I'd like to think means they appreciate the work I do. If you have done business with me in the past and care to comment on it, I'll leave a space for testimonials in a comment thread below.

It's a pretty simple process! You can e-mail me at oh.shouchan@gmail.com with 'commission' in the subject line. Let me know what it is that you want and please provide a picture -- the more references, the better. Let me know when you need it by and I can provide you with an estimated price quote. If you need help finding a base wig, give me some time and I'll give you a few options to choose from. We can discuss what's best (heat resistant, thickness, shade of color vs your skin tone, etc.) for you and move on to purchasing it. Either I can provide you with my address and you can buy the wig and have it sent to me or I can purchase it for you and send you an invoice. From there I will notify you when I receive it and when I am finished working on it. At your request I'll provide you a photo and if it is styled to your liking I will provide a final price quote and send it to you. (I only use USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelopes and boxes.) If we're both going to the same convention (within California only please!) I can even deliver it to you so you can save on shipping.

My pricing ranges anywhere from $15 - $45 typically. I can do quite a few different styles from basic trims, texturing, spiking and updos. (If there is anything requested that I feel is out of my skill level I will gladly refer you to someone else.) I find the average total price is between $25 - $35 for a styling and materials fee. The materials fee is a small fee ranging from $5 - $10 I place on each wig commission. This enables me to purchase any special items I need to style your wig, as well as make sure I can always be fully stocked with new razors, scissors, hair spray and stands. I feel that my prices are relatively cheap, especially compared to other wig commissioners I see on cosplay.com and deviant art. I don't boast the most expensive equipment or most skill, but I do have a knowledge of what I am working with and a goal to provide you with a wig that is ready to wear. I would never send someone anything that I wouldn't wear out to a convention myself. This is why I only charge as much as an average hair stylist would.

Aside from my ACP, I wanted to provide some photos of a few wigs I've styled in the past, seen here!Collapse )

So if anyone has any questions or wants to ask for a slot/get a base quote I'm leaving this post open. If you'd prefer not to discuss it publicly, please send me an e-mail! I'd really love to get back into styling wigs on a more regular basis, so I can at least help fund my hobby by helping others. As most of you know, I'm a lame duck when it comes to sewing -- if anyone ever needs a commission but is short on cash, let me know. We may be able to work out a trade.

Thanks for reading, guys! ♥
