I don’t understand why corporations or creators are against fanfiction.

SG:A led me to fanfiction, which led me to ALL (excluding HP, because I’d already read the books) of my current fandoms, of which there are multitudes.

Because of ‘copyright infringement’ (though, the Suits fics I’ve read — as well as my research studies class and the Fair Use clause and Creative Commons, fuck yeah — leads me to believe it isn’t actually copyright infringement), I have purchased your seasons and books and comics and watched your shows and movies.

Logic up, people, and look at it as A) people loving the worlds you created so much that they never want to leave them, and B) free publicity that requires absolutely no effort on your part.

Because it is.

Writing woahs

Woah as in whoa, not woe.

I just accidentally wrote five or so Gdoc pages of really graphic porn last night. Like... yeah. It was stuff I'm not even into, either, but it just kinda swept me away and made sense for the characters, so I rolled with it. And then it never ended. o.o It just kept going. I'm almost afraid to go over it again for edits in case I was high on the thrill of writing and it's not actually any good. :/ I don't know if I can get back into that headspace if I need to rewrite it.

Awkwardly, what spurred the porny writing jag was 1) the adrenalin rush of a successful audition for True West (aiming for Lee, but might get Austin), which is a play about brothers (The porn is not about brothers, it's Shawn/Eliot.) and 2) plot procrastination. Don't know what to make happen next to make that one thing happen that needs to happen? Porn! Everyone will be happy! Until the story ends up being 100k and nothing happens except for sex :/ We'll see, but it didn't make me as uncomfortable to write as it used to, so there might be more sexytimes later in the story even, with other pairings. Considering there are other pairings in this one, unlike Full Circle.

So, yeah. That happened. Thought I'd share.

Peg² updates!

It's been a while.

Like, a really really long while, I know.

But I come bearing good news! I'm working on Peg^2 again! There's two new updates (chapter 14 and chapter 15) up on AO3 RIGHT NOW. So if you'd lost all hope, don't despair! Square Peg is no longer on hiatus. If you've completely forgotten what it was about, Full Circle is there too, along with Getting To Atlantis, which is essentially the original first five chapters of Peg^2 (plus some changes). I split it off because it was a self-contained arc that didn't really affect the rest of Peg^2, and I feel it works better as its own story. So while the last posted chapter on LJ is #18, chapters 14 and 15 over on AO3 are indeed new content.

So! I hope you head over to AO3 to check it out.

I'm lazy so I haven't reposted those chapters here on LJ, but I will if there's demand. Just comment and let me know :)

Slinking back to fandom

So I've tripped and fallen back into fandom. Spent the entire holiday weekend reading through a huge-ass rec list of Inception AUs that I will link later because I'm lazy and hunt & peck typing on an iPad is slow as hell for me. But yeah. The end of my degree is in sight, and while I'm doing 15 credits this term and a job, and a play (a Shakespeare in the Park sort of thing through my school, we're doing A Comedy of Errors -- Jersey Shore style. Yeah, you read that right), and an unpaid internship -- fuck the internship, I want to be a copy editor and managed to fall into a reporting internship and JFC, it's common knowledge that I hide from my own birthday parties because PEOPLE and now I have to approach total strangers and make them talk to me and I always spend at least 10 minutes hyperventilating in my car before I can psych myself up to do it -- this coming year is just half time at school and then just one job! Free time, I will have it! And it's annoying the hell out of me that I never finished Peg² (which I am now simultaneously posting on AO3 and LJ, for those who prefer AO3 pagestyle or the ability to download) so that's gonna happen. So. WTH why is this so long I was just complaining about iPad typing and it's late.
