Answer: Neurodivergent Therapists was created by Amelia Galier Slama and Charisse Galier Louis in May 2021. You can read more about our story on the Who We Are page.

Question: What are the requirements for providers to join the directory?

Answer: We have 4 requirements for providers to join the directory: 1) identify as neurodivergent, 2) agree to follow Our Values, 3) complete an application to confirm licensure and ability to provide services, and 4) pay a one-time fee.

Question: How do I work with a provider listed on the directory?

Answer: All of the providers on this directory work for themselves, so you will need to contact the provider directly to discuss services with them. In each provider’s listing, we include links to their website, email, and/or phone number. You can click on these links to contact them.

Question: What do I say when I contact a provider on the directory?

Answer: You can say, “Hi my name is ______. I found your information on the Neurodivergent Therapists Directory. I am interested in working with you. Are you accepting new clients right now?”

Question: What should I expect after I contact a provider on the directory?

Answer: After you contact a provider, they will let you know if they are accepting new clients and how to schedule the first session with them. They may also ask you a few questions to see if you will be a good fit for their services. For example, they may ask you what services you are interested in, why you are interested in those services, how you will pay for services, and days/times you are available for scheduling.

Question: I am a neurodivergent provider. How do I join the directory?

Answer: We open applications to join the directory once a month for a limited time. You can see updates about when applications will be open on the Join the Directory page.

Question: Are there terms and conditions for applying to join the directory?

Answer: Yes! The application terms and conditions as of 7/28/2025: “I understand that I am applying to join Neurodivergent Therapists, which is a directory for neurodivergent providers. The information I have provided in this application is true and accurate. I understand that the directory reserves the right to remove my listing at any time if I have misrepresented myself or if there is a complaint received about me. If my application is accepted, I understand that I will be required to pay a non-refundable one-time fee of $50 USD to join the directory.”

Question: What should I expect after I apply to join the directory?

Answer: Our team will review your application to make sure you meet the requirements to join. After we review your application, we will contact you via email to let you know if your application has been accepted or not. If your application has been accepted, we will send you a draft of your listing for review and instructions on how to complete the one-time fee. After you confirm that your listing information is accurate and pay the one-time fee, your listing will go live on the directory.

Question: I completed an application to join the directory, but I haven’t heard back yet. What does this mean?

Answer: Due to how many applications we receive each month, it can take several weeks before we contact you about your application. We complete a thorough vetting process of each application, so this process can also take a significant amount of time. We will contact you via email once we get to your application in the queue. If it’s been more than 30 days since you applied, please Contact Us.

Question: I am a provider currently listed on the directory. How do I update the information in my listing?

Answer: Please email Amelia at amelia@ameliaslama.com if you need to update your listing. When you email her, make sure to include what state(s) you are currently listed in so she can update your information in the correct places. It is also helpful if you can clearly state what updates you need made.

Question: How do I report concerns about a provider on the directory?

Answer: Please Contact Us if you have concerns about a provider on the directory. Our founder, Amelia, will reach out to you to discuss your concerns privately.

Question: I don’t understand the terms used in the provider listings. What do these terms mean?

Answer: Here is a list of common terms we use in provider listings and their definitions.

Common terms under “services offered”

  • In-person: This means that a provider offers services at a physical location (i.e. a private office). You will need to go to that physical location for any sessions you schedule with that provider.
  • Telehealth: This means that a provider offers services online through secure video sessions or phone sessions. The provider will give you instructions on how to schedule these online sessions and how to log into the call at your scheduled time. It’s important to find a safe and private space to be for your online sessions.

Common terms under “payment accepted”

  • Insurance: This means that a provider accepts certain types of insurance for their services. If they list your specific type of insurance, you may be able to use your insurance to pay for services with that provider.
  • Private pay: This means that a provider requires you to pay them directly for their services using a debit card, credit card, bank account, or cash. This is sometimes also called “out-of-pocket” services.
  • Sliding scale/reduced fee: This means that a provider offers a range of fees for their services, including lower cost fees for clients who may not be able to afford the full fee.
  • HSA/FSA: This means that a provider will allow you to use your HSA/FSA card or account to pay for their services.
  • Superbill: This means that a provider can send you a receipt for services you paid for. You can send this to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for the services you paid for. A superbill does not guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you.
