NAPAC: Supporting Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse

The National Association for People Abused in Childhood (NAPAC) is the UK’s only dedicated national support service for adult survivors of all forms of childhood abuse. Our mission is to provide specialist, confidential support that empowers survivors to heal and thrive.

What We Offer

At NAPAC, we recognise the lasting impact of childhood abuse and are committed to helping survivors reclaim their lives. Our services include:

Working Together

We collaborate closely with the criminal justice and public health sectors to support survivors in understanding their legal and healing options. Our psycho-educational support groups, offered online and in-person (funding dependent), create safe spaces for deeper engagement and learning.

Whether you’re a survivor seeking support, a professional looking for training, or someone eager to make a difference, we’re here to help,

What to expect from your call

We are a very small team and it can be difficult to get through. Please try at different times rather than re-dialling repeatedly as our team dedicate time to finish each call. We offer 30 minutes of supportive listening with signposting if that is relevant to your needs, but we cannot offer on-going support or counselling.

We also offer support by email – support@napac.org.uk

NAPAC’s series of booklets for survivors and those who support them are free to download
and are also available in audio format.

For survivors

Abuse happens in many different ways, but behind every type of abuse is a misuse of power and control. You can start to recover and reclaim your life.

For professionals

Adult survivors of child abuse often don’t receive the support they need, because professionals don’t understand childhood trauma and its impacts in later life.

For supporters

Many survivors fear telling people about the abuse they experienced because they worry that they won’t be believed or the information will be too much to bear.

Our Impact

Our Strategic Plan for 2023 – 2028 is now available. Over the next five years we are investing in improving access for a wider range of survivors and ensuring we share our best practice approach to trauma-informed care, both in the UK and overseas.

At NAPAC, our mission is to help survivors feel empowered to take the next step in their recovery from childhood abuse. The very best way for us to do this is via telephone on our emotional support line. We can talk about memories, triggers, coping behaviours, progress with recovery – any abuse-related issues that are coming up.

Every conversation moves at the caller’s own pace, and we won’t ask them to disclose or discuss anything they’re not comfortable with. We can also signpost to other organisations providing ongoing specialist support, such as psychotherapy and counselling.
