Community Engagement
JDL's mission is to inspire individuals to discover, learn, and succeed, and few departments within the district highlight this effort more than JDL's Community Engagement Department. CE staff are responsible for a host of projects and initiatives across the library district including:
- Mobile Outreach
JDL's mobile outreach aims to expand library services in order to reach every community across Jackson County. Visitors can check out and return material, place and pick up holds, sign up for a library card, access free WIFI, and more. - JDL StoryWalks
Visit a JDL StoryWalk for an innovative literacy experience as you walk along a local trail reading a story. Locations include Grass Lake High School, Hanover-Horton Elementary School, Jackson School of the Arts, and the Dahlem Nature Center. StoryWalks are free and open to the public. - Project BRIDGE
Project BRIDGE (Building Relationships In Diverse Generational Experiences) offers a variety of programs and resources to support seniors as well as patrons with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, as well as offering support for those individual's caregivers. - Local History
At JDL, we believe that preserving and sharing local history is just as important as providing access to the latest information and materials. In addition to library programs, community partnerships, and archival efforts, we also offer a variety of resources at the link above.
