Do you know someone in the District who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding services to Scouting, length of service, a special act of heroism and bravery, courage, endurance or devotion to duty under suffering? Well we want to know about them!
The Scout Association has a number of prestigious awards for members and as a voluntarily organisation it’s an important way of saying, “thank you”. Mersey Weaver have presented an astonishing number of people with Awards over the years, but we know there are more people in the District who continue to modestly do great things for young people and Scouting locally who may be overlooked. We need your help to find them!
When nominating someone for a Good Service Award, please consider the criteria for all awards that the nominee may be eligible for (e.g. a Commendation Award, a Good Service Award, a Meritorious Conduct/Gallantry Award, the Cornwell Scout Badge or the Chief Scout’s Personal Award) to ensure the most suitable award recognises their achievements/contribution to the Scouts, because two Scouts awards shouldn’t be awarded for the same accomplishments.
If an individual does not meet all the necessary criteria for a Good Service award, it may be more appropriate to consider a Commendation Award, Thanks Badge or nominating them for the Chief Scout’s Personal Award or our local Volunteers of year awards.
Award criteria
At Scouts we want to thank all our volunteers for their contribution to the Scouts – it’s an important way to make sure people stay with us and to recognise their achievements and Good Service awards are one way of doing this.
All Good Service award nominees must:
- Be a current adult member of the Scouts (as determined by the Chapter 16 Roles Table).
- Have all active roles at a ‘full’ appointment (which includes having completed all mandatory learning).
- Have enough service for the award they’re being nominated for.
- Have a valid Criminal Records Check (if relevant for their active roles).
- Have not received a Good Service award in the last five years.
- Not already have the award they’re being nominated for.
- Have the correct previous Good Service award (if relevant for the award they’re being nominated for).

Roll of Honour
We are extremely proud of all our volunteers who have received awards. If you would like to see who has achieved an award in recent years you can do so here…
