Apparently, hot toddies are made with tea! Wow. I've been making them all these years with whiskey, honey, and lemon juice alone. I slept good, though.

A word from mustafear : When I see these pictures, I see promising lives cut short. I think it is wrong to bully anyone into despair deep enough to kill themselves. I will wear purple on Wednesday. Will you?

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

RIP Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh (top)
RIP Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle)
RIP Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

The BBC apparently believes most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here: BOLD THE ONES YOU’VE READ!

100 Noteworthy BooksCollapse )

I wish the record to show that I'm appalled by the number of titles on this list that are upstairs on my 'to read' shelf getting dusty- they are in italics. Shameful, really.

I reread this entry and all your comments this evening because the lesson I am preparing reminded me of our 'conversation'. I thought it only fair to share with each of you that your answers brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for being so open, so honest, and so very beautiful. I am quite amazed by my friends.

I write like
William Shakespeare

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

My 'God Blog' gets Shakespeare. My poetry reads like Stephen King and fanfic reads like James Joyce -- all according to a random analysis online. It was fun.

I'm searching for examples of those silly things we fight over. You know: Kirk vs Picard, Gryffindor vs Slytherin, whether the toilet paper roll should hang over or under, or the ultimate superiority of Star Trek vs Star Wars. What stupid but strangely polarizing issues have you fought about in the last year??

EDIT: Ones I've already got:

Captain Kirk vs Captain Picard
Star Wars vs Star Trek
(or Gene Roddenberry vs George Lucas)
Dogs vs Cats
Over vs Under (toilet paper roll placement)
Mac vs PC
Gryffindor vs Slytherin
Ninja vs Pirate
Boxers vs Briefs
Leno vs Conan
X-Men vs Justice League
Dishwasher Wars:  Pre-Rinse vs No-Rinse

I believe we are seeing the effects of Christians not remembering to take care of the orphans, the widowed, the foreigners, and the poor.

Don't like this bill? Me, neither. Let me ask, though: When was the last time you fed the poor, paid for their shots, or even saw the person down the street who needed help? God is passionate about justice for those who don't have the means to care for themselves and will find a way to do it if His people don't follow through.

That's all I've got to say about that.

Oh God, have mercy on me and send me peace. I need a little bit of calm in the midst of all this madness. Thank you.
