The MultiFaith Council envisions a northwest Ohio where people of every faith, culture, and background come together in friendship and mutual respect. Through lifelong learning and meaningful connection, we’re nurturing a community grounded in belonging and inspired by peace.
For over twenty years, the MultiFaith Council has united people of many faiths and backgrounds to learn, serve, and celebrate together. Through education, dialogue, and community service, we create spaces that build understanding, compassion, and peace.
Whether you join us for an event, make a donation, or become a member, your participation helps nurture a more compassionate northwest Ohio—one where everyone has a place to belong.

About Us
The MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio was founded in 2001 by Woody and Judy Trautman and an initial Board of Directors. For more than two decades, the MFC has brought people of diverse faiths, cultures, and backgrounds together to learn, build community, and promote peace.
Guided by our mission, the MultiFaith Council creates opportunities for lifelong learning, spiritual development, and community building that foster compassion, understanding, and belonging in northwest Ohio. We envision a region where people of all faiths and traditions come together to celebrate diversity, mutual respect, and our shared humanity.
Rooted in collaboration, peace, and pluralism, we believe community is built through authentic relationships, neighborliness in action, and the welcoming of difference. By learning from one another and working together, we strengthen the fabric of our region and help create a more compassionate future for all.
A Greater Toledo Compassionate Community
In 2014, this significant initiative of the MultiFaith Council led to official designation as a Compassionate Community as the Mayor, City Council and Lucas County Commissioners passed resolutions affirming the Charter for Compassion. We were the first region and thirty-ninth city to become a part of a global community of now over 86 cities.
