So -- on balance, I liked what was there. More Derek would have been good, but of course there can never be enough Derek and so many other character moments made up for the lack of it.
I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying this season -- I was so sure I was going to have to watch it through my fingers! :D
Oh my goodness, it's done! I admit, I'm a little excited (okay, and also a touch nervous) to post this, as it's the longest story I've written, and also my first Teen Wolf fic!
But, here it is -- a baby spark!Stiles story (which is also, secretly, a Derek-Hale-should-have-nice-things story :).
Most enormous thanks to dogeared and siriaeve for beta, chat, and encouragement -- you definitely made this better than it otherwise would have been.
Attach me to your world | 27,280 words Fandom: Teen Wolf (TV) Rating: Explicit Relationships: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski Characters: Derek Hale, Stiles Stilinski, Scott McCall, Sheriff Stilinski, Alan Deaton Additional Tags: Underage Sex, Mythical Beings & Creatures, First Time, Magic, baby spark!stiles, Post-3A
Summary: Turns out Stiles is magic. He's as surprised about that as anyone.
NOTE: I wrote this during the season 3a hiatus, so while it is canon-compliant up until that point, it takes no account of anything that happens in 3b.
First fic in this fandom, so I would love to hear any feedback if you have it. Storeeeee! :D
Bonus? The return of H50 finally prompted another effort to reinstall all the apps lost in the Great Computer Crash of 2013 (seeing as the first attempt failed so dismally). AND I even found the Photoshop disk and serial # so, there will be pics!
Makes me think of the whole "It was a dark and stormy night..." thing, because OMG, seriously, IT WAS! Really, right in the middle of a rainy, thundery, windy storm last week, my laptop just died. So I think I was quite justified for a while there, in thinking maybe it was surge-related or angry storm God or SOMETHING!
But no. Just a virus (I don't mean that 'just'. I really really don't).
ANYWAY. Somehow, with every reasonable virus protection that you can have installed (and still have a machine that actually works) it was a virus.
And TWO factory restores later, I think maybe it's working? I'm typing, so that's good (even if the 'n' key does curiously seem to require 2 keystrokes to work). Whatever. I AM NOT COMPLAINING! (okay, I am, but it's more of a grumble, rather than the full scale freaking-out of earlier in the week :).
I did not know I was quite SO attached to my laptop. AND I have no idea how much of everything I've lost -- although I do know I lost a bunch of lovely TW links that were all ready for sharing so that is SAD.
But YAY! COMPUTER!
(restoring settings is doing my head in, but the double-keystroke on the n thing is going to get old REALLY FAST).
Also? For those who are suffering through heat, we just had our coldest weekend in over 10 years. I think I've been outside a grand total of 3 times since Friday! Share me some over-heated pics / stories, I beg you!
Wow, so it's been a while (especially in LJ/DW-years :). Who knew a month could pass so quickly?
How are you all?? Surviving your respective Summer / Winter I hope (if anyone's interested, it's the depths of winter, here -- max temp today was 13C [ie. freeeezing] and it's rained the WHOLE WEEKEND! Bah!) ??
So. There's been things. Happening. :) I'm going to skip RIGHT OVER the not-so-good, and concentrate on the FUN! Some stuff and pics under the cuts below...
And, umm... I might have also finally given in and fallen headlong into Teen Wolf fandom. Which, you know, how does anyone resist, when it brings a cast like THIS!:
PLUS, on top of all of THAT, I'm finding TW itself INTRIGUING this season. And this last couple of weeks I've been inhaling ALL THE FIC! Which is 99% housed on A03 (thank goodness), because the rest of the fandom seems to be almost entirely tumblr-based. Which, you know, is a Very Fine Thing most of the time (as the above proves), but which is an exercise in total frustration when it comes to reading fic.
Another little baby comment!fic that grew up into a story. :D
ho'ohiki (2204 words) by artisan447, Siria Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 (2010) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Steve McGarrett/Danny "Danno" Williams Additional Tags: Missing Scene, Episode: s03e24 Aloha Malama Pono
Summary:"Steve does a quick left-right, keeping just ahead of the HPD cruiser, and risks a glance at Danny." A missing scene from 3.24.
Also? How is everyone? I have been stupid-busy the last two weeks, and then LJ flipped out and I know I've missed many things. BAH! So, in lieu of regular comments, here -- have the video of Alex on Ellen tonight.
Also, also?? H50 is moving to Friday nights next year, which makes me stupid-happy! Because that means it airs on Saturday mornings for me (I think, unless my internal timezone converter is screwy), and I should actually have TIME TO WATCH AND ENJOY without having to go to bed in order to work the next day! \o/
I'm a sucker for stats, and I love the Archive of Our Own kind of a lot -- I'm really really happy we have it as a place to read and archive fic. How else could we find so may fabulous things all in one place, huh? Biggest hugs to everyone who posts there, reads, and leaves comments or kudos -- it's a lovely way to make a community, isn't it?
Anyway, here -- my top 10 fic at the Archive by hits. Interestingly, if sorted by kudos the order is almost the same. I think the only pattern here is that there is no pattern. :D
Instinct (1278 words) Hits: 4628 Kudos: 129 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: There's a reason Steve keeps taking off his shirt, and in his head it all makes perfect sense.
A day in the life of a Superhero Ninja (4490 words) Hits: 4051 Kudos: 119 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny, Grace Summary: In any decent fairytale nothing bad ever happens to the Princess because the hero is always there to protect her. What's a hero to do when the real world is not so obliging?
Holding on (11094 words) Hits: 3510 Kudos: 104 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny, team Summary: No one expected things to work out the way they did, and they're all holding on the best they can. Post season 1 - canon divergence
Save the day (1492 words) Hits: 2124 Kudos: 54 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: "Jesus Christ, Danny, you scared the crap out of me." Steve's voice sounds raw and ragged, and Danny can feel his hands shaking as he works. "What the hell did you think you were doing?"
Squishes! (732 words) Hits: 2109 Kudos: 51 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny, Grace Summary: Tiny comment fic for dogeared who posted some sad!Steve pics and, like me, thinks the world needs more squishes. Established Steve/Danny getting all schmoopy.
Home is where (680 words) Hits: 2006 Kudos: 57 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: When it comes to the select group of people he really cares about, Danny can't help feeling too much. Middle story of a trio, inspired by Dear Steve by sheafrotherdon, and followed by one big disaster by dogeared(coda for 220)
Give a man an inch... (1370 words) Hits: 1972 Kudos: 116 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: Sleeping bags have sides. They do. Danny insists (and, okay, I'm calling this a prequel for 310 to account Danny's indulgence of Steve's Rambo-ness)
The Best Medicine (1650 words) Hits: 1817 Kudos: 47 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Mary, Steve/Danny Summary: Her brother's supposed to be freaking Captain America or something, he ought to have a better sense of self-preservation.
Muscles of the soul (560 words) Hits: 1711 Kudos: 65 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: Steve's not letting Danny out of his sight (coda for 215)
Beard Burn (1227 words) Hits: 1608 Kudos: 48 Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 | Steve/Danny Summary: Danny is a little irritated, and he has a right to be, goddamnit! Inspired by A Close Shave by thegrrrl2002.
So. Anyone know anything about the next episode? And is it next week, or do we have to wait again? I think I've missed all the spoilers if there's been any.
Wellll, hello sailor! Sweet potato that's a tasty manip--as a matter of fact, he'd look delicious slathered in butter, with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar. Yum! >:->
