I've realized the only reason why I update my Facebook and Twitter is because I have access to it on my phone and can just dally away when I have some free time. Has anyone tried doing the mobile posting where you update from emails? Seems like a good time to type away a LJ post when sitting on the subway and waiting to regain cellular signal if I don't feel like reading my nook. Looks too much like a hassle for 6:30am... humbug!

Reason #1038438 why it's awesome to work at a school: snow days! The first one in five years to be called for NYC public schools! =D Feeling extremely relaxed. The most of my concerns for the next few days are mostly going to be if I should get a Twitter account or not and emailing students their Holiday homework if they missed class on Friday and care enough to find out what it is. I started on Eclipse on the plane ride and have been hanging out with Alex ever since. Got an awesome present that shocked me on Valentine's Day and today we mostly hung out and went to see Coraline. It was much better than I expected, and the 3D gave it a nice rounded feeling to it.
And last but not least: ( As an educator, I love how painful and hilarious this screenshot is.Collapse ) Waiting on the plane in Memphis to depart to Arkansas! Happy Valentine's Day! Long phone chats are so soothing. MLK weekend was awesome! Yay for Baltimore and Jon! =D Yay for 2009! That just means I'll be writing 2008 until around February out of habit. This one time a student wrote down 2005 on his quiz and I (and the rest of the class) made fun of him to no end. It comforts me to know that I'm not that out of it. And isn't it wrong to humiliate and/or embarrass your students? Psssbt, whatever. Gotta find joy in life somehow =p Tales of the Abyss is awesome. Too awesome that I haven't been switching with Persona 3 like I planned. Makes me want to play Tales of Symphonia again. (And did anyone watch Kathy Griffin with Anderson for the New Years CNN broadcast? OMG that was awesome even without the bears. Seeing him getting punched in the gut was sweet!)Wah! So on the 19th, we were able to celebrate Alex's birthday on time. Even cut the cake before midnight. Miraculously, despite all of the snow NYC received, his flight was only delayed 1/2 an hour. The 20th was awesome, when I treated Alex to his birthday present and Nick to his X-Mas present by going to the Capitals vs. Flyers game in Philadephia. It's been ages since I've roadtripped, and it was awesome. Never been to a hockey game before, but it was insane--the fans of Philly were hardcore, the score was 7-1 Flyers, there were TWO hat tricks, and like 5 different flights. Afterwards, everyone crashed at my place and watched Youngblood to keep on the hockey high we all had. On Sunday the 21st we went to brunch at Virgils and then dinner at Rosa Mexicano for guacamole good times. And now I am here in Arkansas after flying in yesterday. In LGA I saw this young trendy woman with a suede poncho with fur lining at the bottom and a Louis Vutton bag going into the plane before me. I barfed a little inside. Don't get me wrong, I'm rather apathetic to the whole fur issue, but seeing a combination of fur, poncho, and LV made me a bit sick. I had some Cincinnati chili finally when I was waiting for my connecting flight in Cincinnati. It wasn't Skyline Chili, but I am hoping Gold Star Chili was an adequate substitute. It was different, but I prefered the chili that Alex made tonight for dinner. On the flight to Little Rock I sat next to some guy (20's I assume) who seriously needed a bath. Nevermind the odor, but he also had horrible bad breath. Just my luck that he also liked talking and mumbling to himself. When he pulled out his laptop and started watching anime, it made me groan inwardly for him perpetuating the stereotype of otakus. Ok, maybe he wasn't an otaku, but it reminded me of the kind of people who don't bother showering the entire time they go to a convention like Otakon, and it made me die a little inside. |
