I've realized the only reason why I update my Facebook and Twitter is because I have access to it on my phone and can just dally away when I have some free time.  Has anyone tried doing the mobile posting where you update from emails?  Seems like a good time to type away a LJ post when sitting on the subway and waiting to regain cellular signal if I don't feel like reading my nook.  Looks too much like a hassle for 6:30am... humbug!

The perfect blend of Phoenix Wright and Ouendan (yes, because I prefer to forget Elite Beat Agents exists). Thank you Alex, this was exactly what I needed to cheer up <3

Okay, NOW I want to get this game. It's been, what, 2 or 3 years since they've been teasing us? This trailer definitely sold me. Who cares about plot and eye candy and that Snow looks like Locke if he were mixed with Seifer and looked more of a bum with a girlfriend complex...TRANSFORMERS!!!

Reason #1038438 why it's awesome to work at a school: snow days!  The first one in five years to be called for NYC public schools!  =D

Thankfully a friend texted me because I was about to get ready for the day.  Woo!  All the teachers are happy~  It's a good thing too because I remember looking at the snow and thinking how few students would show up to school in the first place.  Woo!  Now I have to hope that CCNY will be closed too!

Feeling extremely relaxed.  The most of my concerns for the next few days are mostly going to be if I should get a Twitter account or not and emailing students their Holiday homework if they missed class on Friday and care enough to find out what it is.  I started on Eclipse on the plane ride and have been hanging out with Alex ever since. Got an awesome present that shocked me on Valentine's Day and today we mostly hung out and went to see Coraline. It was much better than I expected, and the 3D gave it a nice rounded feeling to it.

Alex got a theme for my BB Curve which has the theme for the latest BBs on T-Mobile and AT&T, so I feel like I have a new phone. I am also psyched because I downloaded a free trial of BeejiveIM. The free IM program (Mobile IM) was totally worthless and I can't believe I put up with it for 6 months with these problems:

  1. I cannot silence any IM I receive.  The program must either make a sound or vibrate.  I always put it on vibrate because pinging is too annoying.  I have been embarrassed when my phone buzzed during class because I totally forgot I left the IM program signed on.
  2. If I receive any IM, no matter what I am doing, the screen must announce to me that someone sent me an IM and for me to click Ok.  This doubley sucked when I would type out a message to another person.  Then I'd totally lose the message once that stupid window popped up.
  3. I get messages repeated to me, sometimes up to 5 times of the same message repeated from someone.  This would have sucked if I did not have unlimited texting.
  4. Could not change my status.  I would either be available, away, or invisible.  I also could not view anyone's info or status unless I messaged the screen name.
Either way, I finally decided to get the free trial of Beejive and am totally in love.  I also got the sound the Transformers make when they switch from vehicle to robot mode and vice versa from Alex.  Both of our phones sounds like it is transforming when people text us.  It's hot.

And last but not least:
As an educator, I love how painful and hilarious this screenshot is.Collapse )

Waiting on the plane in Memphis to depart to Arkansas! Happy Valentine's Day!

It's weird. I know a lot of couples who are indifferent towards Valentine's Day, and I also know a lot of single people who are in the same boat. I always liked Valentine's Day, even if it was an excuse to get my own chocolates. No matter your status, I hope you are able to enjoy today!

Long phone chats are so soothing.

I <3 Kimi!

MLK weekend was awesome!  Yay for Baltimore and Jon!  =D

Today the entire school watched the Inauguration.  Loved his speech, and it was almost like an alternate reality seeing a classroom jam packed with kids fall into a hush as soon as Obama started speaking.  Of students started complaining that they didn't care about it, but what can you do.  I can partly assume it's because he starred using vocabulary that was beyond their literacy comprehension and that they didn't want to connect the dots.  But more than two-thirds of the class was paying attention, which I think a good percentage.  I find his rhetoric so mesmerizing and I love his tone and message so much more than the previous administration.  I hope he can be a new FDR and get things done.  As of right now, he's inspired many (especially the students) and can't wait to see how the first 100 days goes.  (And btw, it was so nice seeing the moving van being packed up with the Bush's stuff).

Also was able to get registered for my Master's Thesis course.  CCNY makes you walk-in register since they go through your transcript to make sure you're in good standing.  Was able to hang out with some friends who were also registering, so I was in an even better mood than before.

And I just found this video that made me literally ROFL that involves Star Wars being told by someone who hasn't seen the entire thing.  I love it because (a) I, too, have only seen bits and pieces of Star Wars (b) I'd pretty much describe the trilogy like that too.  Except I know what ATATs and Ewoks are.  And (c) No, I really don't care about actually watching them.  They bored me when I was a child and it still does.

Yay for 2009!  That just means I'll be writing 2008 until around February out of habit.  This one time a student wrote down 2005 on his quiz and I (and the rest of the class) made fun of him to no end.  It comforts me to know that I'm not that out of it.  And isn't it wrong to humiliate and/or embarrass your students?  Psssbt, whatever.  Gotta find joy in life somehow =p

And finally, FINALLY caught up with all of Gintama!  The Bleach, Ultraman, and D.Grayman references killed me so much.  Can't think of anything better of ending the year/starting the new year with some Gintama with the boy :)

Tales of the Abyss is awesome.  Too awesome that I haven't been switching with Persona 3 like I planned.  Makes me want to play Tales of Symphonia again.

(And did anyone watch Kathy Griffin with Anderson for the New Years CNN broadcast?  OMG that was awesome even without the bears.  Seeing him getting punched in the gut was sweet!)

Wah!  So on the 19th, we were able to celebrate Alex's birthday on time.  Even cut the cake before midnight.  Miraculously, despite all of the snow NYC received, his flight was only delayed 1/2 an hour.  The 20th was awesome, when I treated Alex to his birthday present and Nick to his X-Mas present by going to the Capitals vs. Flyers game in Philadephia.  It's been ages since I've roadtripped, and it was awesome.  Never been to a hockey game before, but it was insane--the fans of Philly were hardcore, the score was 7-1 Flyers, there were TWO hat tricks, and like 5 different flights.  Afterwards, everyone crashed at my place and watched Youngblood to keep on the hockey high we all had.  On Sunday the 21st we went to brunch at Virgils and then dinner at Rosa Mexicano for guacamole good times.

Somewhere in the mix my friend Paul came to visit for a few days and it was nice spending Christmas with him.  Walked all around NYC and showed him around since he hadn't been there before.  The Comedy Cellar was awesome on the 24th since it had only 1 show and it lasted over 3 hours since it had comedians jam packed in the line-up and some going beyond their allotted time.  I got Tales of the Abyss for X-Mas from Paul, so I've been playing that.  I also got Valkryia Chronicles from Alex, so yay for games.  I'll be busy trying to beat the 3 or 4 games I am simultaneously playing.  Wah!

And now I am here in Arkansas after flying in yesterday.  In LGA I saw this young trendy woman with a suede poncho with fur lining at the bottom and a Louis Vutton bag going into the plane before me.  I barfed a little inside.  Don't get me wrong, I'm rather apathetic to the whole fur issue, but seeing a combination of fur, poncho, and LV made me a bit sick.  I had some Cincinnati chili finally when I was waiting for my connecting flight in Cincinnati.  It wasn't Skyline Chili, but I am hoping Gold Star Chili was an adequate substitute.  It was different, but I prefered the chili that Alex made tonight for dinner.  On the flight to Little Rock I sat next to some guy (20's I assume) who seriously needed a bath.  Nevermind the odor, but he also had horrible bad breath.  Just my luck that he also liked talking and mumbling to himself.  When he pulled out his laptop and started watching anime, it made me groan inwardly for him perpetuating the stereotype of otakus.  Ok, maybe he wasn't an otaku, but it reminded me of the kind of people who don't bother showering the entire time they go to a convention like Otakon, and it made me die a little inside.

Going to be enjoying time to relax.  Been catching up with Gintama episodes.  That's one anime and manga that never gets old or loses it charm.  I got depressed because there were over 20 episodes that I hadn't watched and it kept on piling up.  And I'll also be alternating between Persona 3 and Tales of the Abyss, so I've got my schedule planned out for the next few days in between going out with Alex :)
