MOCA Systems, Inc. (MSI) was founded in 1999 as a spinout of MIT research in construction simulation and planning with a mission to develop and deliver services and software solutions for large, complex construction projects. This led to the creation of MOCA Services for construction Owners and A/E firms and MOCA Software for Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors. Today, MSI drives efficiency, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making across the AEC industry.

Sandy Hamby is President and Chief Executive Officer of MOCA. MOCA provides Owners with solutions to complex, messy projects. Sandy has served as Vice Chair of the Construction Management Association of America National Board and served in all positions within the Board of Directors for the South-Central Texas Regional CMAA Chapter.

Sandy received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The University of Oklahoma. She served as an Architect with a heart for construction management for the United States Air Force, 3DI, Carter Burgess, Jacobs and finally for MOCA. She has over 30 years of experience in the field of construction management and focuses her time on revolutionizing project delivery through MOCA’s collaboration services enabling effective planning by design and construction teams. These services capture and align client’s expectations with qualitative and quantitative requirements such as scope, quality, budget and schedule.

Additionally, Sandy earned her Architects license from the State of Texas and her Certified Construction Manager designation through CMAA. In 2018, Sandy was inducted in the Construction Management College of Fellows.

Andy Calkins has extensive project management and project controls experience for USACE, DOD, Federal, and private sector clients on over $2B in construction projects. His experience in design and construction includes project controls, cost engineering, program/project management, construction management, scheduling, schedule analysis, cost estimating, claims and change order analysis, risk management, and quality management throughout all phases of the project life cycle – planning, design, and construction. Specifically, he has managed task orders, managed QA/QC process, provided technical support, and managed on-site personnel and integrated project teams in construction management, quality assurance inspections, program and project scheduling, cost estimating, and claims analysis.

Overall, Andy has managed and performed projects in CONUS and OCONUS regions for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer and multiple federal agencies. Software & Training: Primavera P6, MS Project, SureTrak, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite ,Prolog Manager, Timberline Job Cost & Project Management, CostWorks, USACE RMS. Organizations: SAME, AACEI, PMI.

Brett Adamczyk is the President of MSI’s software division, provider of Touchplan®, the most trusted software platform for collaborative construction planning.  He has 20 years of experience operating SaaS businesses and is well-known as a transformational leader who influences positive business outcomes and creates enterprise value for customers.

Before his tenure at MSI, Brett held strategic positions that underscore his ability to drive growth and transformation. As a Managing Director at Progress Partners, an investment bank, he led the Tech and Enterprise software vertical. Prior to that, he served as the COO of Newforma, a leading Project and Building Information Management software supplier in the construction industry. In this role, he was instrumental in leading the firm’s growth initiatives and operational transformation.

Brett graduated from Babson College with a BS in Finance and is currently a member of the Babson College Alumni Association Board of Directors.

David Hart has over 40 years of experience in planning and programming, program management; architecture; and the design of large, complex, and politically sensitive projects throughout the public sector. He has experience with public architecture, including city halls, police departments, and civic centers for Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County. Prior to joining MOCA, he was the Executive Director of the Utah State Capitol Preservation Board. During this time, he served as the “Owner” of the State Capitol. Having served as the facility owner he is fully knowledgeable and acquainted with the needs that government owners have. He is also aware of the politics that surround the project and the transparent accounting of all activities involving public dollars. He will provide this perspective to Lehi City while supporting the planning and programming in the early stages and throughout the complete project.

Michael T. White is a seasoned finance executive with a strong track record of scaling SaaS businesses, leading capital raises, and driving operational excellence. As CFO of Steer (formerly Mechanic Advisor), he helped grow the company from 6 to over 100 employees, led a $25M equity raise at a $100M+ valuation, and closed a $14M strategic agreement in the energy sector. 

With prior experience in investment banking at AGC Partners and roles in renewable energy, construction, and commodities trading, Michael brings a versatile background in financial strategy, M&A, and business development. He holds an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and a B.S. from Georgetown University, where he played Division I lacrosse. 

Tim Negris, previously marketing head for AI innovator Spell, Inc. until its acquisition by Reddit, leads MSI’s marketing team to increase global visibility and demand for its award-winning services and software solutions. Negris began his career as the first product manager for what is now Microsoft SQL Server. Later, with Larry Ellison at Oracle, he conceived and led the introduction of “Thin Client” computing, a key precursor to the cloud. He also served as VP of Sales and Marketing for IBM software. Tim has a decades-long track record as a marketer and thought leader in introducing innovative solutions for real-time data management, advanced analytics, business process automation, and applied artificial intelligence to the world’s largest companies.

Richard Peasley is an experienced solutions engineer with a strong background in the program development, cybersecurity, and computer software industries. He specializes in operations management, enterprise software systems, and architecture. Richard holds an MBA from the University of South Dakota focusing on decision support and is skilled at leading growth initiatives in complex enterprise environments. 

Dan is a founding member of Touchplan’s parent company MOCA Systems, Inc. and is currently responsible for Touchplan software architecture. Prior to the Touchplan product, Dan led the design and development of MOCA’s construction simulation software.

Before joining MOCA Systems, Dan spent several years as an independent consultant working with Boston area software companies in various technical capacities. Dan has also held positions at Applied Parallel Technologies, Sybase, and Oracle. He is a coauthor of six US software patents.

Dan holds a Bachelor of Science from MIT where he also completed Ph.D. coursework in the philosophy of logic and mathematics.

Drew White is an accomplished engineering and construction executive with nearly 30 years of leadership experience in public infrastructure and federal programs. As Vice President of Operations and Development for MSI’s Services Division, he leads operational strategy, financial oversight, and business development to drive performance and innovation across the division.    

Drew previously served in the Senior Executive Service (SES) as Director of Installation Services for the Department of the Army and held senior leadership roles with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), overseeing global construction and engineering initiatives. A licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Construction Manager, he is a two-time Bronze Star Medal recipient and a former USACE Construction Manager of the Year. 

He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Missouri S&T. Drew lives in Springfield, Virginia with his family. 

Ken Smith is the Vice President and oversees MOCA Systems’ Human Resources operations. In this role, he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s human resource strategies to best align with business objectives and values. More specifically, Ken manages employee relations, staffing, compensation and benefits, culture and engagement, career satisfaction, and compliance with relevant federal and state regulations.

Ken is a results-driven HR leader with over 40 years of experience in various industries, including life sciences, medical devices, software development/SaaS, managed and professional IT services, consulting, and financial services. Before joining MSI, Ken was Senior Director of Human Resources for Akoya Biosciences, Inc., a multi-national life sciences tools and technology company that delivers industry-leading spatial biology solutions to the translational and clinical research market.

Ken holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a member of the Northeast Human Resources Association (NEHRA).

Jim Phayre has over 25 years of management experience throughout the software, biotech, food manufacturing and construction service industries. He is a high energy team player who has enjoyed getting the job done at small, medium and large sized companies. Additionally, Jim holds a B.S. in Accounting from Bentley University and is a Certified Public Accountant possessing strong organizational, managerial and technical skills with the ability and desire to work with all levels of management/staff. Jim is currently the  Vice President of Finance and Administration for MOCA Systems, Inc. He is responsible for the Company’s Accounting/Human Resource areas which include: Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Valuations, Treasury/Banking /Auditor/Legal relations, Corporate Insurance and Employee/Outside Investor Equity relations.

Jason Lyon serves the Customer Success team by enabling the group to deliver the immediate and lasting value of Touchplan to drive retention and expansion.  He also works cross-functionally with the Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to advocate for customers. Jason joined MSI in 2018. He and the customer success team ensure construction teams have the support they need beginning with onboarding to make sure their user experience with Touchplan allows them to achieve all the construction goals.

Before joining MSI, Jason was a Strategic Sales Consultant for a SaaS company that provides all-in-one, cloud-based property management software that allows property managers to oversee all aspects of a building. Prior to this, Jason worked in retail banking for seven years and managed two bank branches during his tenure. Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Daniel Quaroni is the VP of Research and Development for MSI’s Software division (Touchplan). Upon starting at MSI, Quaroni led the development team as the Senior Director of Software Engineering. As VP of Software Engineering, he is now in charge of product management, ops, security, and UX along with leading the development team.

Before joining MSI, Quaroni worked as a software architect for KAYAK, the world’s leading travel search engine. At small companies, he is as comfortable building a development team and a product from the ground up as he is at analyzing large-scale systems and working with disparate sets of developers to improve system architecture and development procedures. Whether leading a team of developers or constructing a product roadmap, he continuously proves to be an experienced and adaptive team lead.

Michael Sullivan oversees Touchplan’s global business expansion. A principal at MOCA Systems since 2006, has served in several executive capacities within the Touchplan organization for over six years. He is a LEAN construction expert and has coached construction project teams and owners to identify process improvements to deliver construction projects to reduce waste and increase efficiencies. Through the implementation of Touchplan, he has helped project teams reduce overall project time, improve team communication, run smoother projects.

Before joining Touchplan, Michael was a Vice President of Operations at WALL USA, Inc. He was responsible for urban planning, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, installation, service, and maintenance. He also oversaw operations of the company’s St. Louis operation, including contractor and employee safety, environmental compliance, procurement, product quality, UL recognition, city compliance, state, historic and landmark approvals.

Michael is a graduate of Clarkson University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Master’s in Business Administration.

Paul Ernst has 34 years of experience in facility and program construction management on over $1 billion in school and government construction and renovation projects throughout the country. He has an extensive background in providing Owner’s program management services to clients. Paul’s experience in construction program and project management includes new building construction, renovation of existing buildings, building demolition, site work, soil excavation/remediation, soil sampling, groundwater remediation system installation, and other facets of general building construction. He has managed multiple prime trade contractors, performing all aspects of renovation and remodeling work in user-occupied areas. Paul’s field experience and education enable him to produce quality work products while maintaining realistic budgets. Paul leads state and local projects for MOCA and is strategically involved in projects providing Owner’s Representative services in Salt Lake City as shown below.

Joe Stahlmann has over 25 years of experience in design, planning, construction, facility assessments, and the management of multiple projects as an Owner’s Representative. He has worked with multiple clients including state and local, federal, colleges, K-12, aviation, and healthcare. Joe’s experience includes on-site Program Management, Project Controls (cost and schedule) Management, Predesign, and Master Planning.  Joe’s focus on culturally significant projects includes work on multiple public government structures, museums, and national landmarks. His unique skill set helps Owners navigate politically sensitive subject matter in a highly visible environment. He is experienced in managing state bonding dollars and coordinating donor funding.

For the past 6 years Joe has led the restoration of the Minnesota State Capitol working closely with the Department of Administration and as the liaison for the Senate and the House. Mr. Stahlmann worked closely with David Hart on the development of the Comprehensive Master plan that was the guiding document for the Capitol Restoration. He also developed the Design Guidelines which identified and documented those expectations which the Capitol Preservation Commission felt were the most critical to the process. Working with the CMr and the Architects he attended to the needs of Owner.

During the restoration, the Capitol Commission approved the development of the new Senate office building. Joe over saw the development of the master plan, project definition and programing for the project. He worked closely with the design building team and the Owner.

Houston Drum is an architect and Vice President in MSI’s Irvine Office and Continuous Alignment group, with over 17 years of experience focusing on a wide range of markets including civic, government, cultural, education, corporate headquarters, commercial office, large-scale mixed-use, residential, hospitality, adaptive reuse and interiors projects. He is well-versed in a variety of delivery methods including Design-Build, CMAR and P3, and over the course of his career has designed and executed some of the most notable and complex projects in the United States. Houston is committed to envisioning and delivering projects that inspire the public, are functional and meet the needs of his clients and the users, are well-built and efficient, and are completed on-time and on-budget. Houston brings a rigorous attention to detail that leaves no stone unturned, and a spirit of collaboration that fully involves the client throughout the entire design and construction process. 

Chiti Ho performs and manages software and web page development for project controls systems for design and construction programs and projects. He is a cost engineering technology leader in program and project management information systems (PMIS) and facility management systems which enable improved collaboration, communication, and workflow between Government agency stakeholders, project managers, designers, and contractors.  This includes managing, monitoring, and reporting schedule, budget, and cost data and project information and documents. Software & Training: IMPACT Software (Proprietary Project Management Information System), COMET software, (Proprietary Asset Management System Software).

Mr. McGlone performs program and project management responsibilities for a wide range of activities in the engineering and construction field.  With over 20 years of experience, specializing in Civil, Environmental, Cost and Value Engineering, Facility/Community Planning, Property Development, Budget Analysis, Contract Administration/Negotiation, Construction Management, Personnel Management, and Business Development.  Mr. McGlone currently manages the Project Controls/Cost Engineering Department for his current company, where he oversees preparation and provides quality assurance of cost estimates for over $8.0 billion in construction value annually for various federal and state government and commercial clients. He has developed facility requirements valued at over $1 Billion for various government and commercial clients through information gathering charettes and produces comprehensive documentation with concept reports, drawings, and cost estimates.  He has supervised project managers, engineers, architects, estimators, surveyors, draftsmen, and construction superintendents.

Pioneering company builder in technology commercialization at all stages from start-up to IPO. Co-founded, built and supported companies in a dozen countries across three continents. John’s professional focus for more than four decades has been on the software, services, hardware, real estate, energy and environmental markets. John was MOCA’s largest commercial client before joining MOCA’s board in 2007. John was a founding fellow with the New England Clean Energy Counsel.

Stephen brings decades of leadership experience in the AEC industry. From serving as a military officer in the 6510th Civil Engineering Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base in California and as the European construction manager for the Voice of America, to working his way up the ranks of the Architect of the Capitol agency to being appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to become its head in 2007, Stephen has brought exemplary leadership to public service and has made significant contributions to the design and construction industry.

Beverly Bruce has served as a Board Director since July 2008. Beverly is an experienced executive who has logged a successful record of achievement within the technology industry for more than 30 years. Her core competency has been to move companies to new innovative business models and lead the execution of these strategies, including the establishment of IBM’s software channel strategy in the early 1990s and the establishment of the industry’s first family of managed web hosting services at Exodus Communications. She has led acquisitions of multiple companies and has served on numerous public and private boards. She graduated from LadyCliff College in Chemistry/Biology and from the Columbia Graduate School of Business in the executive program. She currently serves on the boards of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm College and the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, NH.

Walter A. Winshall has been a private investor in a large number of companies seeking to commercialize new technology. He has been engaged in this activity continuously since 1970, except for the period of 1975-1995, when he was a principal and held various management roles in a software company that provided information products and services for libraries. The company, SilverPlatter International, NV, was acquired by the Dutch publishing company Wolters Kluwer in 2001. He graduated from MIT in electrical engineering and from the Harvard Law School.

Mr. Snyder is the founder, and President of Big Blue Innovations, a construction, and real estate technology-startup consulting firm. He has been in the engineering and construction industry throughout his career and has experience by providing the following:

  • Executing project management with a national general contractor
  • Construction project executive of a general contractor
  • Corporate director of planning, design, and construction for a healthcare system
  • Founder of a pre-construction technology startup, and as the founder of FMI’s technology and innovation practice

Snyder earned a bachelor’s degree in construction management from SUNY ESF at Syracuse University and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University. Snyder is a decorated Air Force officer having served on active duty and completed eight deployments around the globe leading combat operations and providing humanitarian assistance. He continues to serve in the Air Force reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel.
