Oh Eurovision Song contest... You are back and this time WE are hosting. And the songs are awful as ever but still weirdly entertaining. Now how can we screw this up so that the whole of Europe will laugh at us and confirm that our nation's massive inferiority complex isn't just for nothing? *g*

Well, at least we have Nokia. :D And speaking of Nokia - My new phone!!!

It's so very pink and princessy that I'm almost ashamed but not really.

Hello my darling friendslist! I *know* I've been silent as the grave almost a couple of months now, but it's been really hectic. And I get these phases when I don't have anything to say. Thankfully I've had time to at lest read the friendslist so I'm keeping up.

But the main reason for the post is THE CHRISTMAS CARD ANNUAL ADDRESS COLLECTING!!!!!!

I've answered a few polls but I definitely want to send some cards, too. And don't worry, if you're not sending cards this year. Send me your address anyway! This time, it's screened comments, because I can't be bothered to make a poll.

Forza Azzurri! [Jul. 10th, 2006|04:03 pm]
The Fannish North
I'm really happy that Italy won the World Cup. i literally lost years from my life yesterday watching the game. I lost huge chunks of it because I just couldn't watch. I really don't even understand my attachment to the Azzurri. it's not only that they're hot. I wouldn't suffer for years with them *just* because the hotness. (although that helps...*g*) Sometimes the decision of support just isn't your own.

But anyway, I was jumping for joy when the penalty shoot-out was over and all the dorky partying began. They were hilarious! I only wished that Alessandro Nesta could've played in the final. That poor dear is *so* unlucky and I was all misty-eyed when I read about his disappointment and his teammates support. Of course he's part of the team and part of the victory, but I would have loved to see him marshall the defense in his rightful place. Beside Cannavaro.

And Cannavaro! I didn't think I could adore the Azzurri captain any more than I did Paolo Maldini but I have to say that Cannavaro was just simply sublime in these games. The Golden Ball went to Zidane but I felt that it was more of a "life's work" than from these actual games. Zizou was magical against Brazil but Cannavaro shined in every.single.game.
Defenders are great in a different way. The greatest result from their work often is that nothing happens. And I guess that is sometimes difficult to appreciate. But I've loved Italian defense for years and years, so my Golden Ball goes to Cannavaro. Thank you Captain, for the beautiful result!

Wow, I guess I had a lot to say. And I haven't even commented on the head butt or the match fixing! I'm waiting for more information on those before I say anything.

And a final plea. If anyone finds a pic of Alessandro Nesta holding the WC trophy, could you point me to it? I've scoured through hundreds of pics (oh, the agony;)) but I've yet to find Sandro fondling the trophy. I'm sure his teammates at least allowed him to *touch* it. *g*

Help! [Jun. 29th, 2006|09:41 pm]
The Fannish North
[Current Mood |amusedamused]

I'm leaving tomorrow for two days to a summer cottage of my aunt's, where there is a huge family gathering. Two days of hanging with my extended family in the middle of nowhere. (Thank god the cottage has electricity and running water. Camping!girl I am*not*...) But *two days* of aunts and cousins and people I don't even know from my aunt's husband's side. So I'm taking my ipod with me so I can retreat to the woods when I just can't take it anymore. (Hey, maybe I'll get eaten by a bear? It might be an improvement!)

So please send me your favorite song, a song that reminds you of Clark/Rodney/John/Wilson/etc or a song that just makes you smile, so at least I'll have some new music while answering questions about my life and eating sausage. Please?

For the other football-deprived people on my friendslist (there are some, right?), I'll link you to a hilarious ad from the time of Euro 2004. This has *got* to be how they train, right?

And about my beloved Azzurri, the Italian team, this is a link to a charity song they did a few years back. They're all hot as hell, but the poor dears just *can't sing.

Michael on the move [Jun. 25th, 2006|10:16 pm]

Hey, Michael *did* attend the POTC II premiere. Wireimage has at least a tiny pic of him. Looking at the baseball pics, he must've gone straight from the game to the premiere. Busy, busy boy that young Michael. And I guess he was having the time of his life. *adores*

But! Why oh *WHY* didn't my darling Commodore Norrington attend the premiere? It's always nice to see Orlando cuddling with Johnny , but I wanted some Davenport sugar, too, dammit!

Not-so secret message to scrunchy! The magazines have arrived and I've been cuddling Anderson to my heart's content. Thank you!!!

Anderson has been popping up today everywhere. Not only is he having an exclusive first interview with Angelina Jolie. (The combined hotness! It will melt the TVs of the world!), he also is empathetically NOT the answer to Ted's latest Blind Item. No no nosirreebob. (The answer this week, apparently, is Ryan Seacrest and Ted himself. They both work on E!)

My newest shoes that I bought today. Yay, for new shoes!

And I finally, after *years* it seems, have bought sunglasses. These Miu Mi shades, but in black. My life of glamour will soon be reality. *g*

Victorious boys [Jun. 13th, 2006|06:56 pm]

Woo! Italy won it's first match against Ghana 2-0. And the boys were happy. How happy? Well, Alessandro fondled boy-bottoms with his delicate hands while hugging.

Yay!

Today has been a *gorgeous* day. Granted, I had to work but I used my weekly TYKY-hour by just walking in the sunshine and enjoying the heat. Yes, while the pay isn't anything remarkable, at least there are these little perks for working for government. Getting paid while walking outside for an hour once a week is one of them. Sliding work hours aren't bad, either.
