Microstructure Measurement

Microstructure Measurement is a research-grade image analysis application developed by Ferdowsi University for quantifying features in micrographs. Designed for materials scientists, metallographers, and engineers, it turns optical and electron microscopy images into reliable, reproducible measurements. The software streamlines routine tasks such as grain size estimation, phase and area fraction analysis, porosity assessment, and particle size–shape characterization across metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and geological samples.

• Accurate calibration from scale bars or metadata to convert pixels to real-world units.
• Robust segmentation tools (thresholding, watershed, morphological filters) with interactive refinement.
• Comprehensive measurements: grain size and distribution, particle and inclusion size–shape metrics (area, perimeter, circularity, aspect ratio), area/phase fraction, and porosity with pore size distribution.
