Its been quiet a few years since my last sketch, but the beautiful Ica graced us with her presence last night at Crone Architects, so had to get the rusty pencils out.

I spent time with friends last summer, at the Waimarie Resort in Kho Samui. Its a small boutique place with only a few villas on the beach. A beautiful secluded beach that provided a personal cook. We could work out our daily menus. Amazing. But not for the waist line.
Highly recommend xxxxxx
Lying on the beach with beverage in hand I started to sketch things, to while away the time, listening to the gentle lap of waves at my feet.
This is the first sketch.
…………and we love it. Sketching is back. Our little sketch club disbanded nearly 12 months ago for a little break and inspiration. It was so nice being back in the groove. Can’t wait for the next session.
This is my favourite sketch of the night. Why you may ask? I like the really sketchy drawings. No fixed line. Hand is moving constantly. Rough and undefined edges. The model’s pose also helped as the foreshortening perspective made the sketch more interesting. I often fall into the trap of drawing a solid silhouette around the edge of the drawing and the results are often tragic 🙂
I will post some of the other sketches of the night over the next few weeks. Any tips all those artists out there?
