Swine Flu

It's my personal belief that the Swine Flu is, among many things, being overblown by the media. It happened with the Bird Flu too, with the tone always that of a what-if scenario and everyone acting like we're on the brink of a full-scale epidemic. Fear sales, and there's a reason why they say things like, "Find out what you need to know to protect yourself from the deadly Swine Flu... after this." It just seems like they're making people more scared than they have to be, and I hate for people to be so scared when this is - unfortunately - a type of thing we're gonna have to get used to. These things do tend to come and go.

Consider this... there have been 91 reported cases of Swine Flu in America, with only one death. Mexican and American doctors are reporting that they're able to handle the Swine Flu if the patient discovers it in a reasonable amount of time. So, that's one death, out of the 91 reported cases... compared to your every day regular flu which kills 36,000 people in America each year, this could be a lot, lot worse. We should have more news stories about the normal flu if you ask me.

Edit: And for the pork-eaters out there... there is no link to the actual consumption of pork, and Swine Flu, so keep porking those sausages!
My twitter is www.twitter.com/mbmoses. It's a site kinda like this one, but instead of entire blogs they're shorter "what are you doing right now" type messages, and you have the ability to get people's status updates sent to your phone.

My Yelp is mbmoses.yelp.com. This is a site where you can go and review any business location. You'll find mostly restaurant reviews, but some other stuff as well. It has a lot of cool bells and whistles, and adding each other to keep track of each others reviews is actually quite fun. My wife and I have become somewhat addicted to it. :P

Employment is great!

For those that don’t know, I put my job on hold for the last 4 months while I temporarily moved to LA. I got married to the love of my life, and enjoyed the break from the day to day stress of the workplace. I made sure that my boss knew that my move was only temporary, and due to my good work record, I was told I’d have a job when I came back. Then, the economy decided to be a jerk and explode, and things became not so simple.

The understanding was that they’d not hire anyone to replace me, thus my job would be waiting when I got back. Considering my job was understaffed even when I was there, I felt that returning was all but a guarantee; but after a few confusing calls to my job, my boss finally admitted that the economy had affected them, and what was always an understaffed store was now apparently a full house - at least, full with everyone they could afford. I was getting frustrated.

Luckily, my boss is actually quite a nice guy (as far as bosses go), and he insured me that he’d do everything he could to find a place for me. And as of two days ago the likeliest thing seemed to be having to go jobless for a month or so, until winter passes and the store’s business picks back up so they need more help. Well, good news came yesterday, and turns out another employee was fired. And luckily one with a full 40 hours a week, so they simply will be giving me her schedule. I talked to my boss today, and he took the opportunity to tell me that he had my back all along. I’m not completely convinced of that, but I’m glad he kept me in mind. So, I start back next Thursday!

It will be a little hectic with moving back only two days prior, but I’m sure I can manage. I’m just glad to know we won’t have an undetermined amount of time without income. This will be a great step on the way to me and Clara getting our own place soon.

I apologize for the long post, but had to share the good news.

Christmas is rolling in...

Christmas time! Something in which I've only recently started taking part in (having grown up in a Jehovah's Witness household). So it is that this is the first year I've felt the Christmas spirit (or perhaps that's mayhem) approaching. I theorize this simply means that it's finally getting cold in California. I have a blanket on as I write this, so this adds to my theory.

I'd like to go back to the beach now. It's kinda a tradition of mine to only go to beaches when it's consider a suicide attempt to take a dip in the water. However, I've missed cold weather. Especially after going through a whole summer in Texas without an air conditioner in my car. So I'm happy... and thus! Christmas Spirit-ey!...? Yeah. I stick by my words. The only problem being the age old issue of money. The 'me not having any' part of it to be exact.

It's quite worrisome being jobless when the economy is in the shape it's in. I have a job waiting for me when we get back to Texas, but until then I feel quite useless. It's hard to save up to move back when only one out of me and my wife has a job, so it's turning out that her grandparents are going to help us out with a lot of it. Very nice and great, yet just a little bit crappy a lot... I stick by my sentences too. It actually is really great that we're able to get help with things like this, so I'm glad. I just wish I could afford Xmas gifts. Le' Sigh.

P.S. Some of my Christian in-laws hate the word Xmas because when you say it, you're X-ing out Christ. I would argue some kinda point... but they're literally correct. I love that.

Picking back up

I've missed LJ quite a bit lately, and since I've had quite a few life changes lately I figures now was a good time to pick back up.

First off, I'm now all married up! Yup, now I have an excuse for this belly. I also plan on growing a mustache to kill all mustaches.

What else?... I think the Twilight movie made full body glitter on men officially even more gay... Otherwise it was a good movie though.

I guess that's it (I thought there was more), so goodbye for now; but I will be posting again just so you know, as well as checking all of your blogs again.

Here's a poem...

---------
A poem! A poem! To bring my sweetheart joy.
A poem! A poem! Uh oh, and oh boy!

Woe is me, I did not know.
Reading other's verse did not show.
That a poem needs structure, a plan, a point.
Not these random words that do now flow.

A poem! A poem! To end such a thing.
Now that takes talent... bada boom, bada bing?
---------

Also... howdy guys.

Howdy LJ people

I haven't posted here in forever, so I'm just doing it for the heck of it. Not even sure I have anything to talk about, but I do know that the OotP movie was awesome. And in a few days the last HP book is gonna come out, and it's gonna be awesome. I also know I may finally buy myself a cellphone in a few days. If anyone wants to call me, uh, just ask for my number... in a few days. Word.

edit: I mean because the baby room isn't ready yet. We are ready for her emotionally, but not ready in the sense that her bed is still in pieces.

And those who died I wonder if they had pre existing conditions plus if they were able to get health care. I have a feeling this is a sacre to get folks to buy a very expsensive medication that will…
