About Competition
Creators are at the heart of the Horizon Worlds community, continually pushing boundaries and transforming what's possible with their imagination and innovation. As we continue to celebrate their creativity and achievements from this year's past competitions and the incredible mobile worlds they’ve already brought to life, we are thrilled to announce the third Horizon Worlds mobile competition in 2025 with the theme: Open Source Champions.
For this edition, we invite all Horizon Worlds creators to participate by either remixing an existing world or building an original remixable world from scratch. Remixable Worlds is a feature in Horizon that allows creators to make their world(s) clonable and editable by other creators. You have the flexibility to choose your own creative path.
In addition to the main competition, participants can take on optional mini-challenges to win additional prizes. You can choose to participate in just the main competition, just the mini-challenges, or both. They are:
- Interactive Asset Mini-Challenge: Create dynamic and interactive assets that can be used and remixed by other creators or/and
- High-Quality Tutorial Mini-Challenge: Increase the variety and volume of the MHCP creator-made documentation by producing engaging, high-quality tutorials.
This competition is designed to highlight the spirit of open source creation, collaborative progress, and accessible knowledge-sharing that strengthens our creative community.
Open Source Champions: Kicks off on August 14 through September 10, the "Open Source Champions" competition will reward 35 worlds with up to $1 million in prizes for building the best remixable worlds and additional $500K to the winners of the newly-added min-challenges. Explore the list of prizes for Remixable worlds, Interactive Assets, and Tutorials.
Empowering Others: By supporting open source innovation within Horizon Worlds, you not only showcase your own creations to a growing community of players but also help other creators jump start their world-building journeys.
Collaboration and Community: This competition is part of our commitment to fostering collaboration and community among creators. We encourage creators to form teams and play an active role in shaping open source content, working together to elevate mobile experiences and content on Horizon Worlds.
We can't wait to see the open source innovation you'll bring to life.
