Got my official US Nintendo Store, Metroid merch! I had been eyeing the Metroid™ Tech Accessory Case ever since it was available in Japan. I must say, it is MUCH bigger than I thought. You can fit a whole Switch 2 inside! Also got myself the Metroid™ Silicone Tray and the Metroid™: Metroid 3D Keychain. The first round of US merch sold out fast so keep an eye out for restocks.

Sometimes you just gotta treat yo self! 😆 -Rue

There’s a new Lego Samus on the block!

Samus was created by Lego modeler Eth3r and needs your support! As of this writing there’s just barely under 800 supporters, but who knows what will happen? As we reported a few years back on another fanmade Metroid Lego playset that reached 10,000 supporters, despite that it may seem like a lot of support, it doesn’t necessarily mean Nintendo will be on board.

In any case, go here and support this build. (Note – you do need a Lego Account to add your support!)

Most of the Metroid community at large agree that Prime 4, in some aspects, is an imperfect addition to the series. Community member Alta Count has created a survey regarding what is perceived to be the biggest hangups folks had with the game.

If you had some qualms with the game want to express your opinion on the matter, I recommend you fill out the survey below. Note there is no collecting of emails or other personal information to take this survey. It is 100% anonymous.

This past week I’ve been working on adding the bonus material exclusive to Metroid Prime Remastered to our Metroid Prime Section.

There are images from “Biology – Remastered” and “World – Remastered” containing all new the concept art from Remastered.

Additionally, the Character Gallery contains videos of a nice turntable of all the 3D models of characters and enemies from the game. Like this:

There are 36 videos in all. These were created using the Switch’s record feature as well as edits using my mobile phone. Note that the gallery isn’t comprehensive. There are quite a few “missing” enemies, such as Triclops, Magmoor, Puffers, Crystallite, Ice Beetle, Burrower, Reapers, Aqua Sac, Blastcap, Bloodflower, and a few others. This is a bit disappointing as there are stationary (i.e. boring) enemy types that did make it in like the 2 Turrets, and the Hive Mecha.

In any case, enjoy!

There’s a new in-depth interview by Nintendo DREAM (a popular Japanese-only gaming magazine) with Prime 4 leadership Kensuke Tanabe (Producer, NCL), Bill Vandervoort (Senior Game Design Director at Retro) and Kenji Yamamoto (Sound designer/composer, NCL).

Main takeaways are:

  1. Tanabe officially announces his retirement (Prime 4 is his last game)
  2. Prime 4 was laying the groundwork for the “Sylux Saga.” He hints at a plot point in Prime 4 that opens the world up to more possibile sequels:
    [STORY SPOILERS AHEAD]
“Shatoya and twelve members of the Lamorn race, following a prophecy, were transported to various planets across the multiverse in search of the “Chosen One,” carrying small teleportation stations for their return. However, they never found the “Chosen One” and ultimately decayed and perished wherever they arrived. This, however, means that eleven other teleportation stations still exist. While it would be difficult to create separate stories for all of them, I believe it at least leaves room for the possibility of creating some of these stories in the future.”

It’s a very good interview, but the link is to a Chinese website – you’ll need to read it in a browser like Chrome if you want to translate it to English.

At launch, we reported on the fact that Nintendo of Japan released an “official” instruction manual for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond and even allowed folks to download it as a pdf and even provided printing instructions for hobbyists who enjoy having full manuals in their Switch cases.

It wasn’t until a few weeks after Prime 4’s launch that Nintendo released an English version, but it was only viewable through their proprietary Nintendo Today App. Fortunately, we have compiled together the images from this localized version – BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! The Nintendo Today app version was strangely missing pages from the Japanese version – descriptive images of Prime 4’s control scheme. I have personally taken apart the Japanese version and created our own special localized version of those missing 6 images that describe the game’s controls:

I have added the entire unlockable art gallery from Prime 4. There are 140 items total in the game’s gallery, but 123 of those are static images and other 17 are FMV sequences. As of right now, we are choosing not to host the FMV – I’m sure you will be able to find them elsewhere.

While all of them are top tier illustrations and definitely worth looking at, here’s a few of my favorite pics from this gallery:

I also uploaded the entire Metroid Prime 4 OST.
