Mensa Supervised Qualification Test

In Canada, only psychologists are qualified to assess intellectual abilities and to determine IQ scores. They can administer a variety of tests, and provide comprehensive reports. IQ scores in the top 2% are accepted as proof of eligibility for membership in Mensa.

Mensa Canada provides a more economical testing option for people primarily interested in joining Mensa. You must live in Canada to apply. Two standardized, multiple choice, timed tests are available: a traditional test, administered online, and a pictorial test, which must be taken in person. The tests are supervised by volunteer Mensa proctors, and applicants receive a percentile score soon afterwards. If this score is 98% or above, they are invited to join Mensa Canada.

Mensa is not a testing company. Proctors who can administer the pictorial test are usually located in major centres. People under 14 years old, or who have special needs, cannot take a Mensa test, and it is suggested that they use a psychologist to determine eligibility. Psychologists specializing in intelligence tests in one’s region can be found by a Web search.

Screening assessments done by primary school boards are only accepted if they provide a Full Scale IQ score. More details on this are available under the Prior Evidence tab on the Mensa Canada website.

ONLINE TESTING is available in all locations. This is the preferred test because it is convenient and easy to schedule. To take this test, you should be fluent in English, French or Spanish. Please use the location tab “online”.

The online test and the pictorial test are both timed, multiple choice tests. The cost of either test is $90 for adults, and $70 for students/youth.

You must register for a testing date with either an online proctor or an in-person proctor BEFORE making the test payment.

Please use the form here to connect with the proctor closest to you. The selected proctor will contact you to provide more information about the test, location, and availability.
