Day 1 of my Leavenworth trip!
It was a fun first day!
I took this photo at dinner as a bunch of clouds were straight up zooming overhead.
I got some directions for a cool drive with some nice views from a local, and it got off to a great start with this deer just a few dozen feet off the road.
Naturally I was mostly there for cloud pictures, so I was stopping to take photos about every five minutes or so. This one was just before sunset, maybe around 8:00 PM PDT.
This area used to be all timber and mines, so there are these old narrow gauge railways criss-crossing the mountains. I'm not sure what this one was for back in the past, but it's definitely defunct now since much of what I didn't photograph of it was buried.
The downside to sunset drives: no time to explore the cool foot paths! This drive was also pretty much at the limit of what I felt comfortable doing with only 8 inches of ground clearance, so I probably won't go back on this trip.
And finally, at the top of the mountain. I wish I could say where, but I had to swear an oath of secrecy to a local to get this tip (not even kidding, although he could have been fucking with me). Either way, a wonderful cap to a really incredible drive.
Today I think I'll swing into town to grab lunch and walk the waterfront trail, then head back to the cabin to rest and relax with some music (I brought my portable cassette player and a bunch of my cassettes) and solo RPGs to playtest my new system.

So far I'm enjoying Mina the Hollower quite a bit, but even if I wasn't enjoying the game, it's worth it for the soundtrack alone!
First playtest of Central Air and Chassis v0.5 went well! As usual, my players felt the humor was a highlight but the ending needed work 😅 I dunno what it is, but satisfying endings are just not something that comes naturally to me! I need to run more one shots and minicampaigns to get more practice, I suppose 😌
Off to a good start with the new #cloudspotting hobby! I thiiiink these are cumulus fracti, and that might be some kind of cirrocumulus and cirrostratus in the background there? Exciting!
Having played The Wandering Village in early alpha, and now playing it again post-1.0, the addition of a main story and NPC sidequests absolutely catapults it from "fun diversion" to "has been rewiring my brain for the last few days." Having more reasons to care about where you wander really makes the game feel complete!

I don't even have words for how awful the situation with Tennessee and the gutting of the VRA is. Just unbearable cruelty.
#SciFi #ttrpg adventure design will have you googling things like "population density of schools sq km" 😑
Seriously though if anyone has any good guestimates about how large a school with a student population of 4 billion would be, lmk. They have trams and teleporters and stuff, so it's not like they're walking 400 km from language arts to math. The goofier the better
Saw a review for a funny tabletop wargame today about the Emu War, so I decided to check out the publisher's site to see what else they had on offer.
...yeah, they have a Rhodesian Bush War game with multiple Rhodesian units that all have detailed descriptions about how cool they are, while the anti-racist faction has a single, descriptionless unit type simply named "communist terrorists."
I think I'll pass on the silly emu game.
Just attended Giselle for the very first time. Wow! What a show. Now I need a sci-fi adaptation where the Wilis are space pirates.

Here is a short process video for one of my favorite commissions. The client asked me to illustrate a sentient system of vegetation that has latched itself on a human skeleton so it can walk. It is supposed to be a gentle creature despite it’s scary appearance. #mastoart #art #fediart #commissionsopen #commissions #dndart #ttrpg #dnd #fantasyart #characterdesign #イラスト
