Bluepoint Is Yet Another PlayStation Acquisition Horror Story

Bluepoint Games' doors are closed. Five years after Sony stepped through them to welcome the developer’s staff into the warm embrace of the PlayStation Studios family, they have been locked for good. Without releasing a single game, another acquisition has been swallowed by the void that modern PlayStation is increasingly transforming into.

We Don’t Need PlayStation 6 Yet, We Have PS5 At Home - IGN Beyond 932

The PlayStation 5 will have been out for six years this fall, which is usually when console manufacturers start looking ahead to next-gen hardware. But that might not be the case for Sony anytime soon, as one industry analyst claims a variety of factors will see the PlayStation 6’s launch pushed to 2029 or later. We have mixed feelings about this, but ultimately, we don’t really feel like the PS5 has hit its stride quite yet, and while it’s a great machine, there are plenty of players still able to play some of the most popular games on PS4. So, maybe the solution on the hardware front isn’t a new generation of powerful hardware, but some different iterations of current gen that take into account how people are playing. After all, 7% of PS5 owners in the US also picked up a PlayStation Portal, which suggests they’d be willing to sacrifice fidelity and screen real estate for a more intimate gaming experience. In other news, a new set of PlayStation accessories for Figma action figures includes a 1:12 scale replica of Bloodborne, and yet more evidence emerges that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is getting a remake any day now, and it’s such an open secret, even Ubisoft is making jokes about it. The Horror Games That Defined Each PlayStation Console - Beyond 919

It’s almost Halloween, so what better excuse to geek out about horror games? Max and Brian take a look back at the horror franchises that dominated each generation of PlayStation console. From the birth of Resident Evil on the PS1 to Silent Hill and Fatal Frame’s numerous outings on the PlayStation 2, to the PS3/360 era that gave us Dead Space, Condemned and of course, The Last of Us. A few major games arrived right on the cusp between PlayStation 3 and PS4, The Evil WIthin and Alien Isolation. And, of course, Bloodborne, which is absolutely a horror game and I can’t believe we have to keep having this conversation. Anyway, we also ranked the best horror games on PlayStation in the worst way possible, blindly assigning them ranking on a list without knowing what other games are contenders. This weeks show is Max Scoville, Brian Altano, and is produced by Nick Maillet

The 25 Best FromSoftware Bosses

For its next game, Elden Ring Nightreign, FromSoftware is going all-in on the bosses. This roguelike-ish co-op game is fully combat focused, with each of Nightreign’s runs pitting players against an increasingly difficult set of bosses. And, as the first trailer revealed, some of those bosses are returning foes from the Dark Souls series, including the majestic Nameless King. With all this in mind, we asked ourselves: what are the best boss fights FromSoftware has made? We considered battles from across FromSoftware’s “Soulsborne” style games – Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Demon’s Souls, and the Dark Souls trilogy. We assessed not just the challenge of each fight, but every element of the battle: the music, the setting, the mechanical complexity, the lore significance, and many other details. What follows are our 25 favourites, based on all those criteria. This isn’t a list of the most difficult bosses. This is a list of the greatest bosses in FromSoftware history.

Bloodborne 60FPS Mod Viscerally Attacked By Sony Lawyers - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix:A popular patch for Bloodborne was hit with the DMCA copyright attack from Sony. The patch, which only runs on the emulated version of the game on PC, offered smooth 60fps gameplay—something fans have been clamoring for since the game was released back in 2015. So far, Sony has made no mention of any enhancements for the base game or a remaster for PS5 or PC, but this takedown notice has fueled some speculation that a remaster running at 60 frames is on the way. In other news, Forza Horizon 5 will be coming to PS5 later this year. This is the latest in a string of first-party Microsoft games that were once exclusive to Xbox now coming to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. A Switch 2 port of the game is also rumored. And finally, WB's Smash Bros-like platform fighter MultiVersus is shutting down. Season 5 will be the final season for that game. The new season begins next week and will run through May, afterwhich online play will be disabled.
