Jacksonville, Oregon, founded in 1852 following a gold discovery at Rich Gulch, quickly transformed from a mining camp into a bustling town. Today, you can see over 100 preserved structures, including the Beekman Bank, established in 1863, and the 1880s Jackson County Courthouse.

Jacksonville got its start when rich deposits of gold brought prosperity to settlers before Oregon even became a state. But these days, Jacksonville is best known for its yearly Britt Music & Arts Festival and an eclectic collection of antique shops and galleries.
