PLEASE READ, I NEED YOUR HELP TO CREATE A FREE BIRD COLORING BOOK!!!! (just answer some questions)
So for 2015 I plan to make a free online bird coloring book.
My hope is to maybe eventually when I feel I've done enough images and if there's enough interest in the future to possibly publish this coloring book for hard copy sales online and at conventions.
I have created this google questionnaire to try to gauge interest in this task.
Your input is appreciated, any extra tips or information you can leave in the last question at the bottom of the form.
Please share this with others if you feel they may be interested in answering my short few questions.

YOU SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL JUVENILE RED-TAILED HAWK?
Well she came in with a broken wing and showing favor of her right foot and not putting weight on her left. I did her in-take last night and got her settled in and some fluids going and wrapped the broken wing.
Today i took her in for an x-ray, not only was her wing broken, the vet found via x-ray her torso had multiple pellets lodged in it from a pellet gun.
None of which were in an area that would hinder her in the future so we decided against surgery to remove them as birds are really touchy under anesthesia and we don't like doing surgery if we don't have too.
The ulna break is assume to be from a pellet as she does have an open wound in the area as well and her leg is pretty bruised up but luckily no break to her leg.
IT IS NOT A GAME OR AMUSEMENT TO SHOOT AT ANIMALS WITH PELLET GUNS. You are causing them harm, you are injuring them and if they're not lucky enough to be found and treated they die a slow and painful death probably from starvation.
Stop it, stop fucking shooting animals with your pellet guns, it's not fucking funny and this is not the first bird we've gotten in with injuries from them.
Hopefully this lady will make it back to the wild, she's not even a first year bird, wing breaks are hit or miss, she may or may not fly again.

Yea I'm going to be one of those people.
If I owe you a trade and you have not started please do not start the trade until further notice.
If you have started or done your half I will try to get my half out when I mentally can handle it as soon as possible or i will send you the monetary value of your art when I send commission refunds the first week of April, note me for details.
If you paid money for art, you will get a refund come the first week of April, note me for details on the refund date (there's like 2 people who have paid art waiting).
All free art is currently cancelled/on hold, I still will do raffle winner and kiribian winners just expect to wait. I will try to get to it when I can but right now I'm on suicide watch and just can't... do anything right now.
--
David did not dump me, we are still very much together but I'm sorry what's going on will not be told to the public.
I just.. need to figure out how to deal with my life crashing around me.
(anyone who does know what's going on please don't even hint at it here. Thanks).

I started this a few months ago after I did that Snowy Owl picture I had fallen in love with. Finally got around to finishing it today. I admit I got a little lazy with the black on the body.
Overall though I'm super happy with the result, especially that bill, I'm really loving how that came out.
Still trying to figure out how to do this realism thing.

I know I’m not the best artist but… this is the truth and how I feel. I was not comfortable inking that sketch as it was. Reworking the head and the book/torso made me so much happier with the final product.
Don’t half ass just to get things done. It shows in your work if you do.

Click pic for full size.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS!!!
First, where I live it it ILLEGAL to keep these birds in your home, I work for a licensed rehab center as a provisionally licensed rehabber. I am legally allowed to care for these injured birds at my home for short periods of time but this girl is kept at the actual center.
If you find an injured bird please get it to a licensed and trained rehabilitator, without proper care from someone with proper training this bird would have died.

This is a Swainson's Hawk. She was found caught in a barbed wire fence with an injured wing and a beak, that obviously had broken before the got caught in the fence.
Her wing has healed, she can fly.
LUCKILY her beak did break before the growth plate. So her beak WILL GROW BACK. this is actually pics of her I took after we've had her like 2 months, I won't show pictures of her originally (we keep these for reference of the progress).
She'll be with us for about a year, we will need to trim and shape her upper beak and trim her lower beak to keep it from overgrowing. Then she will go back to the wild with nice healed beak.
She is able to tear food on her own now which is a great step!
If you ever wondered what the inside of a bird of prey's mouth looked like here ya go. The hole at the back of her tongue is what she is breathing through, the sharp points just before it are her "forks" she uses to help pull meat into her mouth.

This got removed from FA cause apparently it contains too much violence and gore and death.
Because a bird healing who will go back to the wild is violence, dead and gore. -_-
That spot of blood.. the scab fell off a few days early, herp a derp oh no.
Note: I understand rules for not wanting to post things like roadkill with guts spilling out but this was posted to my photo account for an artistic reference as well as an OMG YAY LOOK WHAT WE'RE DOING TO SAVE THESE AMAZING ANIMALS.

This amazing artist named JaciMae wanted to do a trade with me. After I spasmed from the extreme happy I of course did the trade.
I got their character Cherry, who is beautiful, I love the cherry blossom wings, the reference had the wings with and without the blossoms so I thought this pose with some of the petals blowing in the wind would be fun to try.
I'm so proud of this picture!!!
We agreed to wait to post it to FA until we're both done, she's almost done with her half but I'm just so excited wit how this came out I have to post it to LJ now. :)
