Wellington has been pulling out all the stops lately; we've had a staggeringly good run this past month. Today has been no different: warm, sunny, blue-skied and lush green vegetation everywhere. There are flowers in the garden - half a dozen colours of poppy and two kinds of lavendar and assorted marigolds and daisies, plus the alstroemeria outside my window. I made peanut-butter cupcakes and decorated them with geranium flowers, a deep red.

Have five songs I'm listening to a lot at the moment:

Lah-Di-Dah by Jake Thackray

Shut Up, American Boy by Estelle feat. Kanye West (remix by the Hood)

(Of these, the one you should definitely get is Lah-Di-Dah: it's technically mid-60s satire, but it's one of the sweetest songs about love I've ever heard.)

I'm off to read a novel about a 17 year old girl who goes to live by herself in a cabin in the woods and raises rabbits and gardens and is happy, more or less, with the solitary life she has chosen for herself.

Last night was Fangirl Friday at the Oaks, and it was heaps of fun; also, I drank a rather lovely riesling which I'm going to have to track down. Tonight I'm probably going to make myself a cocktail or two, and settle down to read sprawling fantasy fiction in bed.
