Program Overview

The Institute for Holistic Health massage therapist training program consists of 1,036 hours of classroom instruction.  To achieve our mission goals of offering a strong scientific background with extensive hands-on training for the understanding and application of soft tissue techniques to promote health and wellness, students will complete:
  • 450 hours of education in the sciences, consisting of 150 hours of classroom time studying Anatomy and Physiology, 150 hours of Myology and Kinesiology, 100 hours of Pathology, and 50 hours of Neurology
  • 260 hours of massage instruction in Western techniques, Eastern techniques, and professional development
  • 326 hours of hands-on practice

Program Objectives and Outcomes

Students will: 

  • Demonstrate a practical working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology as well as exhibit the ability to use critical thinking skills to integrate the knowledge of these sciences within a client-centered massage. 
  • Perform a competent, effective, and creative full body massage with additional focus on a problem area using a variety of appropriate and safe massage therapy and hydrotherapy techniques. 
  • Prepare, practice, apply for and pass the New York State Licensing Examination and national licensing exam (MBLEx). 
  • Demonstrate a practical working knowledge of professional and ethical standards with a clear focus on the health and welfare of the client, practitioner, and bodywork profession. 
  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to plan and manage a professional and ethical massage therapy practice or contribute effectively to an established practice. 
  • Demonstrate an awareness of holistic lifestyle and wellness practices and develop a self-care plan to allow for career fulfillment and longevity.

Class Schedule 

  • All classes are held Monday – Friday at our Hudson Valley campus.  
  • The Institute for Holistic Health will hold classes from 9:00am – 5:00pm with a lunch break from 12:30pm – 1:30pm.
  • Full-time students will attend classes from 9:00am – 5:00pm, and part-time students may choose either the morning or the afternoon session, Monday – Friday. Friday schedules vary depending on the block.
  • Each class session allows for 3.5 hours of instruction with a 15-minute break.
