Our story

We are Lotte and Rachid, a Belgian Moroccan couple. In 2018, we happened to be on a rooftop terrace in Morocco at the same time and looked each other in the eyes for the first time. It became the flying start of our life together. Not much later after that first meeting, we were already talking about the ViaVia concept.

In 2019 Lotte moves from Brussels to Marrakech and we start a family and a business together. We find an old lawyer’s office, poor condition but great potential and centrally located in Marrakech Medina. We go for it, at this place ViaVia Marrakech will rise. Rachid starts the renovation work and gives the place, the furniture and the handmade decorations a Moroccan and vintage touch. After a long wait -remember the covid pandemic- we could finally start as a coffee place and in the summer of 2021 as a fully operational restaurant.

Our menu offers a wide choice of Moroccan cuisine and tasty international dishes, the food we ourselves love the most. Bringing people together in an inspiring place, enjoying tasty food, good music and art. Showing the unique sights, exploring Marrakech as we know it, that’s the experience we wanna create with ViaVia Marrakech.

We work with passionate people in the kitchen and the restaurant. We collaborate with lovely guides and travel-experts for our tours and activities. We are committed to sustainable tourism and let you enjoy the Moroccan hospitality.

Since the start of ViaVia Marrakech, we welcomed thousands of guests at our restaurant and rooftop. We helped hundreds of tourists in making an unforgettable Morocco travel.

Our welcoming and dedicated team of 16 members ensures excellent service and a delicious and pleasant experience for our guests!

They’re always in for a talk, don’t be shy about asking them questions. They can give good advice if you cannot choose what to eat. And as they live in the city and country you’re visiting, they love to share travel tips.

In addition to our fixed staff, we collaborate with external partners to offer a wide range of activities and services, like hikings, transport, creative workshops,… Thanks to our collaboration with local partners, we contribute to the community. These partnerships enable us to offer a comprehensive and enriching experience to our guests.

Each ViaVia is active in tourism and hospitality and has its own unique focus. However, we are all linked by our mission to contribute to the community in which we operate. And so we create places to connect, to enjoy, to explore and to contribute.

It all started in 1995 in Belgium with the idea to create a place where travellers could meet, exchange travel tips and eat and drink delicious world food. Good to know: the Belgian touroperators Joker is working in close collaboration with ViaVia Tourism Academy for different projects that have a positive impact on local communities. We are a vibrant restaurant and rooftop venue offering delicious Moroccan and international cuisine. As a tour operator, we also provide guided tours, cultural experiences, and travel arrangements throughout Marrakech and Morocco. We are a local partner for different Belgian touroperators (Joker, Anders Reizen, Unplggd and others). For groups we can organise tailor-made tours and Marrakech experience as well as special events in the restaurant.

Yes! We accept group bookings, the restaurant can serve up to 60 couverts at once. We will propose a special group menu. If you want to organise a private event, ViaVia Marrakech can be your venue. Together we can craft a unique experience with a special menu, drinks, live music… creating good memories at our restaurant or rooftop. Absolutely, at ViaVia we warmly welcome children. There are coloring books and games for them. We have a high chair for babies and toddlers. Children are sure to find something they like on the menu. And our kitchen team can take dietary needs into account. You will immediately notice that our team loves children and is happy to help.

We recommend making a reservation, especially for our rooftop, to ensure a table. You can book directly through our website.

We do not serve breakfast. We are open from 10 a.m. From the morning you can order drinks or something from the dessert menu (cake, patisserie marocaine…)

Yes, we have vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu, both in the Moroccan selection and in the international cuisine.

Yes, you can, welcome! Please note that at sunset and during peak times, we reserve the best tables on the roof terrace for guests who are also dining.

We do not serve alcohol. However, we can make an exception for special occasions or groups.

Every weekend, our rooftop transforms into a lively stage where Moroccan and international artists come together to create magic. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, one of our regular performers is Amin Kamal, a talented artist known across Morocco ViaVia is the only place in Marrakech where Amin Kamal performs regularly.

Our live music is included in the weekends, no extra charge. And possible on week days it is possible for groups to book live music.

We are happy to call a taxi or tourist transport for you. Please ask our team on site or mention it when making your reservation.

There is also a taxi rank near the restaurant where you can take a “petit taxi,” which can carry up to three people per taxi.

Yes, we accept both cash and bank cards in the restaurant. Debit cards and credit cards.

Yes, you can. We accept banknotes but not coins. Change will be given in Moroccan dirhams. We always use the following exchange rate: 1 EUR = 10 MAD and 1 USD = 10 MAD.

In Morocco, it is common to tip as a way of showing appreciation for services that you receive. In the tourism sector, tips are often part of what helps people earn a decent income.

In restaurants, a tip of 10% is usual. A recommended tip for a guide is 100 to 200 dirhams, depending on the size of the group and how long the guide is with you.
