Marmaris is a small and quiet town located on the border of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. It’s one of the world’s largest natural harbors surrounded by pine-covered hills. Today, Marmaris serves as an important departure or arrival point for gulet boat excursions known as Blue Cruises, similar to Gocek and Bodrum ports.

Marmaris is one of Turkey’s major holiday destinations, located in the south-west of Anatolia. The Gulf of Gökova lies to the north, while the Mediterranean Sea bounds it on the south. To the west is Datca Peninsula, while Köycegiz Lake is to the east. Marmaris is a treasure because of its striking hills running into the sea and beautiful bays.

Summers are scorching and dry, with temperatures peaking in July and August when heatwaves occur. October is still warm and sunny, although it rains from time to time, and many visitors prefer to visit early in the autumn because the weather is not as hot. Winters are cold and wet. The rainy season is winter, when there is substantial rainfall after November.

Despite its modest size, the population increases tenfold during high season. Many international visitors come to its fine resorts, while sailors, trekkers, and divers discover its’ natural and historical wonders. The center’s most popular beaches are Marmaris Public Beach and Uzunyali Beach. Paradise Island, which juts out into Marmaris Bay from the peninsula at the entrance, is a popular port of call for daily excursions.

The Cleopatra (Sedir) Island, which has beautiful golden sands with unique glittering beauty, holds a significant role in mythology. According to legend, Julio Cesar delivered these unique sands as a present to Cleopatra after she accepted his proposal to marry her. There are several historical Roman and Byzantine sites on the island, which may be seen during organized excursions.

The lively bars and restaurants of this naturally gorgeous municipality do not suffer from its pace during the evenings, with its vibrant nightlife. Grand Bazaar is home to a variety of shopping options, as well as numerous shops in the center. Its aqua parks are ideal for family fun. Marmaris is about 1 hour by car from Dalaman International Airport.
