[These decorations have been up for a few days now, and while at first Katara thought they were pretty they have now succeeded in making her grumpy. Yes. Very grumpy. Grumpy enough to make a post about it, in fact.]
How do they expect us to sleep with all these lights in our window? I've put a double curtain over it, and the light is still keeping me awake. Does anyone have any ideas?
[You might catch some muttering about: "Moving to sleep down in the basement" or "It's not too cold to camp out in the forest" before the journal shuts. She'll get back to it in a little bit, she just needs to finish making the grocery list.
Once she finishes with any replies that she may receive, Katara heads into town. The lights really are pretty. And so are the wreaths and the snowmen and the... unfamiliar sprigs of green over the doorway to the grocery store really kind of... isn't. Why is that even there? Katara pauses underneath it to examine it more closely...]

[Today, after the typical Saturday late morning house-cleaning and laundry doing, Katara heads into town. She's got grocery shopping to do, true, but she has another more specific destination in mind: The Flower Shop. You guys carry seeds for trees, right?
Thus armed, she will head back home, steal borrow one of Sokka's canoes, and head up to the nearest lake. Once there, she intends to use Faren to plant and strengthen the tree seeds in order to replace the tree she dessicated in her last spar with Shikamaru. She may even give into the urge to jump into the lake and go for a swim.]
[Accidental video:]
[In fact, regardless of whether or not there's company there for her to plant the tree or go swimming, the urge to just jump into the lake is one she is going to give into. The fact that it is an urge, though, prompts her to be less than careful as she strips off her waterskin, belt, and pouch which holds her journal, causing it to jostle opened as it lands on the ground. Fortunately, the fates are kinder to her than they could have been and the video function is not pointing directly at her. Just enough, though, to see her back as she shimmies out of her overtunic before Katara steps out of the camera completely. There will shortly be the sound of a loud SPLASH. And then the video just records the sky and perhaps a loud "EEP." That water is cold. This will probably be a very short swim.
Later, at home and over a cup of tea, she sets up a voice message.]
[Private: to Robin]
Hey, the experiment's over. When do you want to come over for dinner?
[If you hoped she would forget, masked man, your hopes were in vain!
As always, feel free to bump at her in town, on her way out of it, or even at home or the lake!]

[Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep and doesn't know where to find them. If you are one of Katara's friends, or if she even knows you by sight, she is going to think you are one of her lost sheep. And she is looking for you! Looking for you in this rather ridiculous outfit. She is looking high! She is looking low! She is looking along the river, in the village, and in the forest. And in the forest, she finds something... unexpected.]
Oh, hello! You're not one of my sheep!
[But he is stinking awesome for riding on. This will cut the search for her sheep down in half!
...when she regains her right mind, she'll make a voice and video post:]
Hey, I know things are crazy right now but... is anyone missing a dog?
[She'll flip the journal so that the dog could be seen in the viewer.
OOC: So if you like, just let me know if you bump into her on Akumaru or off. And - be aware - her personality may switch from confused and intent, sickeningly innocent, to Sally Peep. This fairy tale, after all, has long been opened to interpretation. (And if you've a preference, let me know about that too! Though I can't promise I'll be able to keep up Sally Peep in Katara-voice for long!)]

[Filtered 100 percent AWAY from: Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Yue, Suki, Shikamaru, Chouji, Ino, Shino, Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Trafalgar, Nami, Sanji, Luffy, Chopper, and anyone else she thinks might recognize her handwriting, despite the pains she's going to in order to disguise it, or show the journal to people she really doesn't want to see this - Raine and Temari and Iroh.
All replies will be written unless stated otherwise. The camera is obscured by a wrapped around piece of brown cloth.]
Do you think that there's such a thing as a power that is wrong, not because of how it's used, but just because of what it does?
[After staying holed up in her room with the door shut - quite an unusual break of habit for her - Katara decides to head into town. She wants to check out that night club that she'd heard about - she heard there would be music!
From there it's the usual errands, like the grocery store and the Item Shop. Dinner tonight will be Something Spicy, but she hasn't figured out what yet. Maybe it'll help get Sokka out of his funk.]

[Toph's taken. Masaomi's gone. Shikamaru and Nami and Chopper are all still gone. Suddenly using the rest of her free time at the beach as Katara has been seems to have lost its appeal completely. She needs to be doing something. She's had this on her mind for a while, but... this just brings everything to a front.
She makes this post shortly before her regularly scheduled practice time - just about seven o'clock.]
Hey, everyone. My name is Katara. I'd like your attention for something serious for a minute. I've been here for about a year and a half now, and there are some things about Luceti that are really great which are easy to take for granted - like the grocery store. But a few weeks ago you all saw how easily things in Luceti can change. [And they did change, once. Last August. But she's not trying to scare people here.] And the drafts have changed as well, so that those who go out might have to either carry or catch their food supplies. So I thought I would offer to see if anyone was interested in lessons on how to live off the land.
I know plenty of people who could teach hunting, and back in my village at home I learned all about how to prepare game and use every part of the animal so that nothing was wasted. If anyone's interested I could teach that, along with different ways of cooking outside, and give some basic lessons what kind of plants are and aren't good to eat.
[She tries - and succeeds - in attaining a more cheerful tone now.] And I thought that maybe at the end of the month before school starts we could go on a camping trip with everyone who wanted to learn! This way we could all test out what we've learned and have some fun too. If you're interested in learning or teaching, or if you have any questions, just let me know.
[And Katara will keep her journal opened for the next two or three hours as she alternates between answering it and going through her bending forms. She'll remain mostly off-camera here, but since it's opened it won't be hard to see the outline of the barracks or occasional glimpse of a girl waterbending.]

[It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and nothing can get Katara down. Why? Because she is going on an actual date without any sort of experiment involved - a boy she may have confused feelings about, but one that she likes enough to say 'yes' to, now that they've finally made everything clear.
Chouji has planned a picnic, somewhere along the river, and should the two of them be left mostly in peace, afterwards they'll head over to the rec center.
...and that's when Bad Things start happening. Seriously, who let loose all these packs of rabid wolves and ...zombies? Date plans abandoned, they'll start fighting their way into town to see who needs help where.]
((OOC: So this is a joint post with Chouji and Katara! Are you a friend who comes upon them while peacefully picnicking? (A friend who - gasp - was not told about this date?) A stranger in need of help from your own simulation of horror? Or do you feel like aiding the fine young couple in their battle against the wolves? Have at 'em! Tags will get hit with one or both of us.))

[Today, Katara sleeps in far later than her custom - in fact, she won't wake up until around one. No one in the house particularly wants her up, and when she does wake she feels as if a platypus bear has been playing kickball with her head. Everything is stuffed in cotton. And then some remaining memories of the past few days filter in through the pain, and suddenly Katara doesn't want to wake up.
She rolls over and finds her journal, blinking the lights from her eyes.]
Did you ever wake up feeling like you owed half the village an apology?
[She shuts the book, having overestimated her ability to do and be... anything. Everything hurts right now, and it's only several hours later when she'll get up out of the bed and make responses to anyone who may have responded back to her post.
If anyone in the house feels like ministering to a girl with a hell of of an experimental hangover, she'll be in her room and then in the kitchen, holding her head in her hands as she drinks water. It doesn't seem that Nala works for hangovers, and her concentration is way too shot to try to fix her own headache.]

[There's a somewhat familiar voice over the journals this afternoon. The setting is clearly the forest, as there are small woodland creatures scampering about. The voice itself seems to have an almost musical lilt to it.]
Hi, everyone! I'm back. I'm sorry if I worried you. Everything seems to be in one piece, and I'm making my way back to town now! Of course, my powers are missing, but they'll be back soon enough!
[Does it seem a little odd for Katara to be casually mentioning such an obvious weakness over an open network, or to be referring to her bending as 'powers?' It gets weirder. Because eventually she'll make her way out of the forest, and you may bump into her as she'll head towards the fountain and all around town. Is she... are those sparkles? And weren't her eyes blue? Why is her hair lighter? What is going on here?]
((OOC: Katara's mallynap effect: She has been turned into a Mary Sue. Click on the link for further details! ...or run for your life. >> You can catch her in the plaza today or walking along the river on the 1st! She'll also spend sometime in the Battle Dome
[After a shift at the Dome clinic and followed up by practice that night, Katara gets home still wired. She grabs her journal and goes to sit outside and look up at the stars.
...Are the stars here even real?
Zuko's mallynapped, her friends are wounded...]
...did anyone have any favorite constellations back home? The stars in the South Pole sometimes looked so close at night that--
[She stops talking and glances up at a sudden noise.]
Hello?
[There's no response except for some rustling, but the hair on the back of her neck is still prickling. She stands up, leaving the journal opened and so the angle only points at her house. There's another moment's silence before--]
Oh, you've got to be kidding me--
[She kicks the journal shut, ripping off her necklace at the same time. It bounces off the journal cover and she has enough time rip a good amount of water off the grass before the robot she didn't see comes up from behind her and subdues her.
Take care of her necklace, guys. She'll be back in about a week.]

Don't apologize. You feel how you feel.
Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
