I was born in San Antonio, TX in 1962. I knew instantly at the age of 3 that I wanted to be an artist. My uncle gifted me my first coloring book and crayons. The first color I used was blue in which I became fascinated with the realization of creating a colorful line on a white sheet of paper. Afterwards I compared colors to the natural environment around me and I remember examining a green caterpillar, looking up at the blue sky, peeling an orange, getting sick on over indulgent of cheetos which I to this day have never eaten again.
Winning awards in elementary school encouraged me to pursue my artistic development. At the age of 10 my father enrolled me in a correspondence course one summer which furthered my interest in basic drawing skills and painting.
In high school, my main emphasis was on commercial advertising and developing a creative pursuit in that particular field. I attended San Antonio Community College and from there I went to Parsons School of Design in New York City majoring in fashion design and illustration.
In the early nineties I was visual merchandising director for a high end retail fashion chain, Julian Gold Incorporated. I relocated back to New York City in 1996 and worked with several designers as an assistant designer and key illustrator both in the fashion and special events industries. In 2011, I opened an art gallery, Heart House gallery to promote local art in San Antonio, TX. 8 years later I closed it down to focus on my own art career.
