If we can do one thing really well, it is grow vegetables! Vitality, quality and flavour are our priorities. We don’t get hung up on the latest trend of variety, but rather, we grow varieties that taste delicious, that last and that bare through the tough times. We are attracted to open-pollinated varieties, and save our own seed when it is possible. We know how and when to harvest to ensure peak freshness, and we will stand behind our commitment to bring you the freshest vegetables that we can!
Hilary has been passionately and organically growing vegetables on a market scale for 25 years, in various soils and conditions. Even with this experience, she is always learning, because things are always changing!
We started raising our own pigs because we needed more compost. Even with cover cropping, added purchased compost, and a healthy rotation, we found that our light sandy gardens were becoming depleted. We missed having horse manure to mix with the pig and chicken bedding and manure, so we got some cows. Our menagerie of animals now provide us with grazing, soil turning and clearing, bug control, weed control, as well as bulky compost material and best of all, healthy, nutritious eggs and meat.
You can find our produce at the Almonte Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings starting Victoria Day weekend!
