Media mastersEnhancing Media Literacy
An European initiative using games, learning, and collaboration to help people of all ages recognize misinformation and think critically about the media.
Media Masters is a European project bringing together 14 partners from nine countries to strengthen media literacy and civic engagement. Through an innovative board game, mobile app, and a series of events across Europe, the project helps young people, educators, and citizens learn to recognize misinformation, think critically about media, and engage in informed public discussions.
Media Masters aims to empower people to navigate today’s complex information landscape with confidence. By combining education, gamification, and real-life discussions, the project equips participants with the skills to identify fake news, understand media influence, and actively participate in democratic life.
In a world where information moves faster than ever, understanding what is true and what is not has become one of the most essential skills of modern life. Media Masters is a European initiative designed to strengthen media literacy and civic engagement across nine countries. Bringing together 14 organizations with expertise in media, education, and youth work, the project empowers citizens—especially young people—to think critically, question information sources, and participate more actively in democratic life.
Rather than relying solely on traditional classroom learning, Media Masters takes a practical and interactive approach. At the heart of the project is a multilingual board game and a mobile app that simulate real-world media challenges. Through engaging play, participants learn to identify fake news, recognize manipulation techniques, and distinguish fact from opinion. These tools are designed to be accessible and sustainable, ensuring long-term impact even after the project’s completion.
Beyond the game, the project will host 42 live events across Europe, culminating in a final gathering in Brussels. These events will bring together more than 3,000 participants—including students, teachers, journalists, and experts—for discussions, workshops, and debates on media literacy, misinformation, and democracy. Each event serves as a space for shared learning, reflection, and collaboration.
Media Masters also focuses on equipping educators with practical tools to integrate media literacy into their teaching. Training sessions and workshops will help teachers and facilitators use the game and related materials in classrooms and youth settings.
The project is coordinated by Solidarity Tracks (France) and implemented with the support of partners from Italy, Cyprus, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Bulgaria, and France. Together, they aim to create lasting change by building a generation of informed, critical, and responsible media consumers and creators.
Media Masters is more than just a project - it’s a movement toward a more informed, thoughtful, and democratic Europe.
