30 question meme

Aug. 25th, 2011 | 01:41 pm

1. The phone rings. Who do you want it to be?
Doesn't really matter because I'm probably going to let the answering machine get it. Mental note: we need an answering machine again, the old one broke.

2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?
Almost always, anyone who doesn't is a lazy jerk.

3. In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener?
Talker unless I don't know anyone, in which case I am a wallflower.

4. Do you take compliments well?
No, but I've been working on that. Just say thank you. Compliments aren't enemy planes which need to be shot down or ping-pong balls you have to knock back and forth.

5. Do you play Sudoku?
Nope, but I actually like word puzzles and word finds.

6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?
Most likely. I took a lot of wilderness survival courses. I'm capable of following raccoon tracks, that should lead me to a major highway eventually and then I can hicthike back home.

7. Do you like to ride horses?
Yes and I will be going on a trail ride soon with my mother-in-law.

8. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
Yes, every summer. Sometimes two different camps all in one summer. I loved summer camp. I loved not being around my family.

9. What was your favorite game as a kid?
Climbing across the monkey bars and pretending that if I fell I would sink into lava pits.

10. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew he/she was married, what would you do ??
It would depend on how serious the pursuit was. There is a level of flirting which is fun, harmless and comfortable. Anything beyond that gets weird.

12. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
No one has the same religious beliefs as I do.

13. Do you like to pursue or be pursued?
I like mutual attraction, which means sometimes column a and sometimes b. No head games.

14. Use three words to describe yourself?
Small Press Author

15. Do any songs make you cry?
A Boy and His Frog makes me sob like a sissy.

16. Are you continuing your education?
Always. I take lifelong learning seriously.

17. Do you know how to shoot a gun?
I can point and pull a trigger. I don't want to own a gun. I have a short temper and startle easily.

18. If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?
The telephone and call the fire department.

19. How often do you read books?
Often. Just finished Physics of the Impossible and I'm now reading Print is Dead.

20. Do you think more about the past, present or future?
Future. Always. There is no fate but what we make.

21. What is your favorite children's book?
The one about the Sneeches.

22. What color are your eyes?
Golden Honey Brown

23. How tall are you?
amazonian

24. Where is your dream house located?
My house is my dream house, because I can walk to the library and my kids live there.

27. Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth?
Yes with my son at the mall - it was fun.

28. When was the last time you were at Olive Garden?
I don't know. I don't find the Olive Garden to be a memory worthy experience.

30. Where was the furthest place you traveled today?
cyberspace

Gem City Comic Con

Jan. 28th, 2010 | 08:51 pm

Thanks to the grace of my dear friend Linda, I will be attending Gem City Comic Con after all this year. You can find out more about that show on the Gem City Comic Con website. I love this show and look forward to hanging with the Dayton crowd of comic book artists.

I didn't have much success with Etsy, so I am hitting up ebay again with my latest attempt at selling off some of these random things that I make. So please check out my ebay store if you get the chance. I will probably alternate between ebay and etsy and who knows, maybe I'll make enough to go to Wizard World one of these days. That would be nice. A gal can dream, can't she?

Indy Comic Week

Dec. 26th, 2009 | 11:49 am

The week after Christmas is official Indy Comic Book Week. This was news to me, but good news, so I will take what I can get.

The good blokes and gals at Packrat Comics have been kind enough to let me in their store again as a special guest along with many other indie comic book creators. I will be giving them some donations of free trades that I have received from previous shows.

The show will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 11:00am - 7:00pm.

I'll be making prints and copies of new comics so come out and see me if you can.

Muchas Gracias!

new art shows

Dec. 15th, 2009 | 03:48 pm

Okay folks, I've got two new shows to announce here. The first one I am completely mooching a ride along with the ever-talented-currently-purple-haired-cupcake-impersonator adarkdezine (who happens to make fantastic homemade soap, buy her soap, it is awesome soap!) Ouch! Okay, I said it, maybe you could loosen the restraints a little now!!?

Whew, that's better. Makes it much easier to type.

That show will be at the former Skye Bar on campus, more info can be found right over here.

And next up on the plate is an in-store appearance at the fantastic, wonderful, better-than-Ezra comic book store known as Packrat Comics, during their indie week. That is set for Wednesday the 30th from 11:00-7:00. So come and see me. I have new stuff for you.

What new stuff? Specifically, I've refurbished the cover for Killer Robots and printed some off on obnoxious green paper, zinester style vavy, so ch-ch-check it out and come get some from me. Oh yeah.

Genghis Con here I come!

Nov. 19th, 2009 | 06:00 pm

Thank you so much for everyone who volunteered to kick me in the teeth, punch me in the gut or pillow fight me or otherwise give me a stern talking to if I didn't sign up. Turns out it was not that easy to get in to this convention - there are only 50 tables available. However, the organizer likes my work so I am now good to go.

Again thank you, thank you and thank you!

More details about the convention can be found over here:

genghisconcleveland.blogspot.com

I hope to see a lot of small press friends there. I'm working on a new not-so-top-secret project as I need a 4 page comic for this convention. (All the creators attending need to make one). I'll give you some hints though:

Cows.

Crop Circles.

Aliens.

Robots.

Hunter S. Thompson.

Drag Queens.

See you at the loony bin - I mean artist's tables!

Genghis Con

Nov. 17th, 2009 | 11:04 am

I need volunteers to kick me in the teeth if I don't sign up for Genghis Con. There is no reason not to do it, but I find myself becoming nervous for no reason.

It has promised to be a "do-it-yourself zine-scene" show. I know the PANEL boys are going and I already said, "hell yeah, I'll do it." But have I emailed the coordinator? No. I'd rather write a paragraph describing how nervous I am then send a quick shot in the dark email. It is ridiculous.

Anyway...any volunteers for the kicking? You only get to do it if I chicken out. I'm trying to motivate myself here peoples. Work with me.

Doing as I said I would

Nov. 15th, 2009 | 11:18 pm

I have 19 new listings on ebay. It took me about 4 hours to photograph, crop and upload them, which kind of surprised me. I didn't really realize how time consuming ebay is.

You can see my listings right over here. If any of the 8.5x11 prints sell, 50% of the profit will go to the Capital Area Humane Society to save homeless pets.

Why only the larger prints? I found out the hard way last time, that Missionfish has a minimum donation of $10 - so since my 5x7 prints only sell for $10, I would be paying for the privilege to donate, in which case I might as well just save myself the effort and write a $10 check. Make sense? I hope so.

I got some new frames on clearance today, so depending on how this sale goes I may get some of my newer stuff up too. Wish me luck!

happy belated birthday Carl!

Nov. 10th, 2009 | 03:51 pm

Carl Sagan passed away in 1996. If he were alive then yesterday would have been his 75th birthday.

I don't know for certain why I like Carl Sagan so much. My science teacher stated that "Carl Sagan made no serious contributions to science, other than a TV show which originally aired in 1980." So what? It was a really cool television show. His books are entertaining reads too.

I stumbled across this website today Symphony of Science. Which had some really beautiful trippy remixes of Bill Nye, old Carl and Richard Feynman.

Anyway, happy belated birthday to you Carl. I never got to meet you, but I miss you often.

ready for Oddmall and trying to save the animals

Nov. 4th, 2009 | 10:46 am

First things first, Oddmall is THIS WEEKEND.

I love the show description: Oddmall - Emporium of the Weird - Chrishanukwanzmadan holiday edition. How fun!

So all the bangles and dangles, all the arts and crafts are getting packed and loaded up into vehicles and we will be taking off. We? Yup, I am splitting the oversized table with three other artists. If three is a crowd then four is an - extravaganza? Don't know, but it should be fun!

So Happy Chrishanukwanzmadan in advance there peoples! Good luck wishes are always appreciated.

In case you didn't realize, I am a girl. I am also a total softie when it come to two things, kids and animals. I don't care if people mock me for being a tree-hugger or bleeding heart liberal. I would save every puppy and kitty and froggie if I could. So I've decided that the goods which I can't sell at Oddmall will be going up on ebay - I will be using their giving works program to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Humane Society.
