Medical Aid Abroad Trust Board Incorporated
Registered New Zealand Charity No: CC20916
For more than half a century, Medical Aid Abroad (MAA) has been transforming donated medical supplies into life-changing support for communities overseas. Founded in 1967, MAA operates through the dedication of its volunteers, with a main centre in Auckland and a supportive branch in Christchurch.
Guided by a committed leadership team - Chairman Murray Kerr, Treasurer Raj Chaudhary, and Secretary Pam Macfarlane - MAA’s work is strengthened by an experienced Executive Committee and Manager Carole Perryman.
Our volunteers, many with medical, nursing, or pharmacy expertise, carefully process donated medical goods, catalogue them, and prepare them for safe storage in our warehouse. When a request for supplies is received, items are selected, packed, and readied for transport to trusted organisations around the world.
MAA follows World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, ensuring all donated goods are in date and suitable for use upon arrival—because quality matters when lives depend on it.
Making a World of Difference — One Shipment at a Time

Client Organisations
To become a client, the organisation you represent should be providing not-for-profit healthcare services overseas and able to comply with MAA's Recipient Organisations Policy
.
The cost of transporting the supplies to the required destination is at the client’s expense.
A contact within New Zealand is necessary to manage the overseas shipment.

Ordering Supplies
Once registered, you will be able to order from our medicines and hospital supplies databases, either online or by simply stating each item’s reference number and desired quantity in an email. Because our stock is continually changing, it's worthwhile periodically checking our databases online.
Medicines
With the exception of Class A drugs, our Medicines database contains most pharmaceuticals that are available in New Zealand. This database shows only the items that are in stock at the current time.
Hospital Supplies
The Hospital Supplies database displays a comprehensive list of everything required for hospital use. This database shows only the items that are currently in stock.
Our Volunteers
Medical Aid Abroad is powered by an incredible team of passionate volunteers who make our charity’s work possible. While many have medical backgrounds, anyone with a willingness to help is warmly welcomed and valued.

We're currently in need of a talented fundraiser so if you just happen to be someone with this skill and you can spare a few hours each week, please contact us!

5th Dec. 2025 Delicious Ukrainian Morning Tea
Olga and Leila our friends from the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand gave Medical Aid Abroad an incredible treat on Wednesday morning, arriving with delicious baked food from their homeland. The savoury cheese bread and honey cake were enjoyed by us all. The girls baked for us as a thank you for the orders we have put together bound for Ukraine, thank you both so much!
Apparently, every month the Ukrainian Association take their beautiful baked goods to the Britomart Saturday Market so if you want to try great Ukrainian treats go there. [Photo Gallery]
5th Dec. 2025 YWAM Ships Aotearoa
Three of us of us from Medical Aid Abroad travelled to Tauranga to join the YWAM Team on board YWAM Koha for the annual partnership lunch . MAA supports YWAM Aotearoa with medical supplies which are given to medical centres on the outer islands of Fiji and Tuvalu.
The YWAM Koha is berthed in Tauranga so it was a great day out and we were made to feel very welcome on board. It was great to meet the YWAM team in person and to learn more about the work they do both here in New Zealand and in Fiji and Tuvalu. We also met all the partners that also support YWAM and enjoyed a delicious lunch on board. [Photo Gallery]

Frequently Asked Questions
I have medicines or other medical items that I'd like to donate. Where do I send them?
Small items can be sent to Medical Aid Abroad, c/o Greenlane Clinical Centre Mail Room, 214 Green Lane West Road, Epsom, Auckland 1051.
We welcome your donated goods as we stock almost every medical item you can imagine.
EXPIRED MEDICINES: Please don’t send us medicines that are out-of-date as we follow the WHO guidelines that require donated goods to be in date when received. Ideally we would prefer donated goods to have a minimum about 6 months future dating which allows time for freighting overseas. However, if you want to donate something and you are not sure, send it anyway. Our team of medical professionals will always check your donation for suitability.
Please contact us if you have large items to donate.
