The LRTimelapse Expert Tips is a series of new tutorials for advanced LRTimelapse users which cover special techniques to improve your editing skills even further. These cover reediting your sequences, the proper animation of gradients and many more.
Please forgive me, that these tutorials are only available in English.
Episode #01: Reediting timelapse sequences
This is a tutorial about how to reedit a previously edited timelapse sequence in LRTimelapse and Lightroom. Basically there are two ways:
1.) Reedit from scratch and 2.) Reedit building up on your previous edits.
In this tutorial I’ll explain both alternatives.
Episode #02: Animating Linear and Circular Gradients
In this Expert Tip I explain how to correctly keyframe and animate linear and circular gradients with LRTimelapse and Lightroom Classic.
Episode #03: Working with Individual (Manual) Transitions
In this episode you’ll learn how to use individual or manual transitions (as opposed to the auto transition) to achieve transitions that are independent of the keyframes. In this video I’ll show you, why this often can be very useful.
Episode #04: Visual Workflow with JPG Sequences
JPG Sequences are usually not the best option for creating timelapse. However, since LRTimelapse 7, JPGs are directly supported, which means, there is no need anymore for the work around (via DNG files) shown in the following tutorial.
This tutorial is only relevant for users of LRTimelapse 6 and older. Here I’ll show you how to use the visual workflow with visual previews and visual deflicker for JPG sequences, by converting them to DNG.
Episode #05: Stop Lightroom from messing up your Timelapses!
Some popular tools in Lightrooms Basic Panel act in a non-linear, context sensitive way and can introduce severe contrast flicker, color shifts and other artifacts to timelapses which are impossible to remove by deflickering.
The probability for this to happen is the higher the less smooth your original sequence is.
In this video we’ll analyse why this happens, which Lightroom tools are fine to use, which should be used with care and which should be avoided at all with such sequences.
Episode #06: Remove Sensor Dust Spots from Timelapses
Dust on your sensor can ruin your timelapse, especially if you shoot stopped down. Using the clone stamp in Lightroom can make things worse. In this video you will learn better approaches to deal with dust spots when working with LRTimelapse and Lightroom.
For a more advanced way to stamp moving objects like people, planes, etc. also watch the video #10.
Episode #07: Advanced Keyframes Synchronization
In this episode I explain why you should generally use the Sync Script, and what to take care of when using the native syncronize/copy-paste in Lightroom to synchronize individual tools.
Episode #08: Remove Lens Condensation from a Timelapse
In episode #8 I’ll show you how to remove lens condensation from a time lapse with some clever editing in LRTimelapse.
Episode #09: Animate the Crop (Ken Burns)
In this episode you’ll learn how to create a Ken Burns effect (Crop Animation) independently from the keyframing of your regular edits.
Episode #10: Stamp and Stabilize with After Effects (Incl. Color Management)
In Episode #10 you’ll learn how to do an advanced workflow that includes After Effects but still uses LRTimelapse’s powerful render engine and preserves the color management. After Effects can for example be useful for stamping and stabilizing your sequence.
For a simple stamping technique in Lightroom, check the video #6.
Episode #11: HDR in photography – how to use it to your advantage (unlike you think!)
Hardly any term in photography has caused as much misunderstanding as HDR. This is mainly because the term HDR has been redefined over time and often used to describe different topics, and not always aesthetically pleasing, results.
With this video, I aim to clear up these misunderstandings, explain the individual meanings and contexts, and show you why HDR will play an increasingly important role in the future. In my opinion, it will soon become an indispensable part of our photography workflows!
Episode #12: HDR Timelapse & Video for Youtube with LRTimelapse & Davinci Resolve
In this tutorial video, I’ll teach you how to create great HDR timelapses using LRTimelapse and Lightroom Classic. Additionally, I’ll guide you through the process of combining them into an HDR movie in DaVinci Resolve. The final video will be uploaded to YouTube, where it will play in perfect HDR on compatible devices, including phones, TVs, and computers.
Episode #13: Keyframe changes in LRTimelapse 7.4+
In this short Expert Tips video I’d like to show you the new way LRTimelapse handles Keyframes starting with version 7.4.
Episode #14: New features in LRTimelapse 7.x you probably missed
No more dancing DNG Converter Icons on Mac, Native Windows on Arm Version, Restart from Scratch, Delete to Trash, Lightroom AI Tools, Why I don’t recommend using the AI Denoise, Restricted Folders, Navigate to specific folder, Popout Editor in the Table, Batch Auto Transitions Subfolders, Live Logger, Preview Popout, HDR for Prores and DNxHR, New Aspect Ratios, Crop Position Number, Composition Dialog Resizing, Camera Profiles, Proxies per sequence, Deflicker – Ignore Blacks/Whites, Better Histogram.
