Lately, I've been struggling on the writing front, and this is the last year for Smutty Claus. I'm debating whether to participate for this final round. Fortunately, I have a few more days to decide.

It's been awhile since I've updated. I'll do my best to post more often. :)

For the first time for a fest, I'm trying my hand at artwork. Now, in order to not spoil the surprise, I won't reveal which fest. Hopefully, it will turn out fine. :)

Is anybody else having problems with Yahoo email right now? I can get to the site, but it won't load all the way. It'll have the categories to the left (Inbox, spam, etc.), but it won't actually show the emails themselves.

Smutty Claus has opened sign-ups. You have until the 7th, and there's a maximum of 75 spots. However, that number hasn't been approached the last few years, so the more, the merrier. :)

Right now, I have a couple of fests I need to write for: Horror Fest and Hp 3Somes. For some reason, I'm struggling with the Horror Fest prompt I signed up for, but I still have some time to come up with something. I have a couple ideas of my HP 3Some assignment.

Right now, Humpfest at Humpdrabbles is going on. Hopefully more people will sign up (and more importantly, fill the requests). :)

Mirrors & Opposites

With my mini-fest and Smutty Claus fics submitted, I only have one thing on my plate, in terms of writing. I'm currently writing a Beauty and the Beast AU fic for Smallfandom Bang, and the premise is: what if Gaston had believed Maurice? Instead of plotting to throw him into the asylum and force Belle to marry him, what if Gaston had immediately tried to rescue her from the Beast?

Speaking of Beauty and the Beast, has anyone seen the trailer for it yet? It looks great. I can't wait for March.

Yesterday, I saw Fantastic Beasts for the second time, and I have a couple of questions.

[Spoilers]
First, was Percival Graves a real person that Grindelwald co-opted ala Crouch Jr. and Mad Eye Moody? If so, where is the real Graves? The way Newt removed the disguise suggests that Polyjuice Potion wasn't used, but that would raise a dark implication: Grindelwald killed the real Graves and took over his appearance. Or was Graves a made-up person and Grindelwald used a powerful Memory Charm on MACUSA?

Second, did anyone else think that Credence may be related to Tina and Queenie? All three seemed to have lost their parents (Tina and Queenie's parents having died from dragonpox), and Credence's real mother was a witch, according to Mary Lou Barebone. Then there's the unusally strong protective feelings Tina seems to have for Credence, almost like she's his big sister.

I need someone to look over my submission for the SSHG Gift Fest. It's due Nov. 2, and that means anyone who's participating should be my beta. It's around 1900 words, and is rated R for sex (nothing too explicit). I prefer to send it via Google Docs.

I also have a couple of fics for Smutty Claus and Mini Fest. For Smutty Claus, the pairing is Harry-centric, and that's all I can say for now. Like the SSHG Gift Fest, my beta should not be a participant, but it's not due until Nov. 26.

For my Mini Fest fic, it's less around 800-900 words, the pairing is Ron/Hermione and rated G. It's due Nov. 20.

I'm finished with three fics, and I'll need a beta for them. It doesn't have to be the same person.

Here are the details:

1. Pairings: Harry/Astoria, Draco/Ginny, rated NC-17, around 2900 words, and it's due October 24.

2. Pairings: Sirius/Ginny with a touch of Sirius/Ginny/Harry at the end, rated NC-17, basically a PWP, around 1100 words, and it's due October 28.

3. Pairing: Harry-centric pairing. I can't reveal Harry's partner here, since it's an exchange fest, and the partner is a "rare" enough character that it would reveal who I'm writing for. It's rated NC-17, around 3100 words, and it's due November 26.

No major objectionable material in any of the stories, and I would prefer to send the fics via Google Docs.

Has something happened to hp_humpdrabbles ?

Ever since the weekly reminder of the deadline two weeks ago, there haven't been any entries. I hope nothing bad has happened to those running the community. :(

Given the information about Wizarding America, I couldn't help wondering that if Voldemort and the Death Eaters ever recruited Americans to join the ranks, in either war. While there isn't any evidence that American wizards have the views of purebloods vs Muggle-borns like English or other European wizards and witches, the fact that the magical population was strictly segregated from the Muggle, excuse me, No-Maj population could have appealed to Voldemort and company.

Igor Karkaroff is an example of foreigners being recruited to become Death Eaters. However, we did see Travers' reaction in Deathly Hallows (the book) when Hermione (posing as Bellatrix) introduced a disguised Ron as someone sympathetic to Voldemort's goals.

I'm sorry to ask this at a short notice, but if there's anyone who can beta a fic for me and get it back to me by Sunday, I would really appreciate it.

Lately, I've had an interest in reading some Harry/Daphne, Harry/Astoria or Harry/Daphne/Astoria fics. I've written a few fics involving Harry and Daphne (including a Het Bang and Harry Big Bang a couple of years ago).

I found an excellent new Harry Potter ship generator: Ship Generator

It has a great number of features:

1. You can choose between 2-5 characters.
2. You can include all of the Harry Potter characters, no matter how minor and obscure.
3. You can choose between het, slash, and femslash.
4. You can choose to reject certain relationships: incest, student/teachers, and non-humans.

I have a different beta request this time. I wrote a 12,000+ fic for a non-Harry Potter oriented Big Bang. It'sa Rocketeer fan fiction. I'm looking for someone who can either beta it from a Rocketeer fandom perspective, or someone who has experience with fics that are set in the late 30's or early 40's.

The fic isn't due until the end of March.

So far for the year, I've written: 24,895 words, averaged over 803 words a day (there were a few days where I didn't write at all).

I'm now the mod for the HP Mental Health Fest. For those who have participated in the fest in the past, I intend to hold the fest around the same time as the past couple of years.

This will be my first time running a fest, so bear with me. :)

Humpathon 2015 at HP_Humpdrabbles has begun. I've already written 5 drabbles, and there are plenty of excellent prompts that need to be claimed, and some that can be answered more than once. :)

While I still need a beta for my Dark Arts Dark Fest fic, the timing isn't as crucial since it's not due until November.

My Dramione Duet Fest fic, however, I still need a beta for. It's due Oct. 6, and is between 5000-6000 words, and will be rated PG-13, maybe a light R.

Of the fests I'm writing for, I'm finished with three of them.

First, is the entry for the Dark Arts Darkfest. The main character is Scorpius, with Al and Lucius making an appearance. It's around 3200 words, rated PG-13 for two character deaths (one off-screen and one on-screen, not gory, but maybe a little eerie. It's not an explicit crossover with another franchise in that no named characters appear, but it's inspired by the other franchise. It's due November 1.

Second, Severus/Hermione fic due October 1, rated NC-17 for sex and vampire-related bloody violence, and it's around 3000 words.

Finally, fic for Dramione Duet, so if anyone's participating this year, you can't agree to beta it per the fest's rules. It's rated PG-13, maybe a light R for implied sex, and it's around 5300 words. It's due October 7.

I need the stories looked over for SPaG issues and plot/characterization issues (if any).

Apparently, J.K. Rowling tweeted that James Sirius Potter was sorted into Gryffindor, much to the disappointment of the Hufflepuff Head Boy Teddy Remus Lupin.

I love these interesting tidbits that continued to come out. I hope we don't have to literally wait two years to find out for sure where Albus Severus would be Sorted.

It's time to sign-up for Smutty Claus. This will be my fourth consecutive year participating and 5th overall. Sign-ups are open until the 7th, or until there are 75 participants. So, the more, the merrier.

I have a few stories to write for various fests, and I've started writing another one although it's not for anything in particular. It's Harry/Astoria, and the background is that they're widower/widow, with Ginny having died during childbirth (Lily's birth) and Draco having died around the time Scorpius was 11. Gradually, they become closer friends and develop a relationship.

On another note, I wrote a crossover Marvel/Harry Potter story for the Marvel Big Bang, but due to my own stupidity, it's not eligible for the Bang. Still, if anyone wouldn't mind betaing it, I'll post it at A03. It's 11K, but there's no time limit. The plot is that Hermione helps some of the Avengers look for the Soul Stone and involves Herpo the Foul.

On the other hand, since I can't submit it for the Marvel Bang, I may go back and add and tweak some more stuff in it.

Future writing plans: I don't know if I will participate in this year's HG SS Gift Fest, but I will definitely participate in Smutty Claus.

It's inspired by an episode from a popular TV series. I won't say anymore because it will give away the plot.

As tempted as I am to sign up for the Next Gen Fest (didn't sign up for Hermione Smut this year), there are a couple of reasons why I didn't.

Back in February, the computer I have access to had to be repaired and everything reloaded. Since then, the only word processing files I can submit for fests are .txt files.

So, I'll just read the entries for those fests when it comes time for stories/artwork to be posted.

I've signed up for this fest. Since it's not anonymous, we're welcome to ask for prompts from our friends.

I have a couple of ideas in mind, but does anyone have a particular idea they may want to see?
