WHAT Is Joint Mobilization?

Joint mobilization is the careful use of skilled graded forces to move a joint in a desired direction. Unlike stretching of a muscle joint mobilization is specific to the capsule of the joint itself. Gliding of the joint is usually used to improve motion and normalize joint function. Joint mobilization also has the added benefit of controlling pain. Any joint that is lacking sufficient motion may be mobilized. Joint mobilization on the neck, upper, middle and lower back, and sacroiliac joints, as well as to all of the joints of the extremities such as the shoulder, jaw, wrist, hand, hip, knee, foot and ankle.

What Our Clients Say

Lynn Riser Gilligan

I walked in to make an appointment for a second opinion. I was seen by the Director Melissa Patten and given a thorough, hands on, examination. Melissa gave me a prognosis that was profession, unhurried and easy to understand. Furthermore, when asked, I was told there would be no charge for this consultation. I’m not suggesting their services are Free, I am saying I would recommend Low Country Physical Therapy without hesitation and will seek their services in future if needed.

Carol Hodges

I have used Low Country Physical Therapy three times. They were wonderful and helped me recover from both of my total knee replacements. And recently I had back issues and they worked with me and resolved my back problems. The staff is very knowledgeable and they make a plan for your success. Both my husband and I highly recommend them to anyone needing any kind of physical therapy.
