About Me

“Embers,” my first published story, began as a scene in a novel I was writing. The scene took my protagonist in a direction that, unfortunately, never led back to the main plot, so I had to cut it. Sad to see it “go,” I sought to transform the scene into a standalone story–and ended up with what was, at that time, called a short-short.

Three years later, I discovered microfiction and got hooked on 100-word stories (Drabbles). After about a dozen Drabbles, I began experimenting with other micro lengths and found that I love the challenge of trying to tell a story as succinctly as possible. (Another thing I love: including at least one baseball reference in my stories.)

I’ve had short prose published in The Big Windows Review, The Birdseed, Blink-Ink, Blood Sugar Poetry, BOMBFIRE, Books Ireland, Boston Literary Magazine, Briefly Write, Bright Flash Literary Review, Brilliant Flash Fiction, Bull & Cross, The Cabinet of Heed, Chantarelle’s Notebook, Cranked Anvil, The Daily Drunk, The Disappointed Housewife, Discretionary Love, Dog-Ear, Doghouse Press, The Drabble, Drabblez Magazine, The Dribble Drabble Review, Dwelling Literary, Elephants Never, Ellipsis Zine, Epistemic Literary Magazine, Eulogy Press, Eunoia Review, Fairlight Books, FewerThan500.com, Fiction on the Web, The Fiction Pool, Fictive Dream50-Word Stories, Five Minutes, Flash Boulevard, Flash Fiction Magazine, FlashFlood the National Flash Fiction Day Journal, Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Freshwater Literary Journal, Friday Fix Fiction, Friday Flash Fiction, Funny Pearls, Gastropoda, Heimat Review, The Hooghly Review, The Hoolet’s Nook, Ink In Thirds, JAKE: The Anti Literary Magazine, L’Ephemere Review, Little Rose Magazine, Livina Press, (mac)ro(mic), The Meadowlark Review, The Mersey Review, Microfiction Monday Magazine, Micromance Magazine, Mojave Heart Review, Molecule, MoonPark Review, Nailpolish Stories, NEWMAG, New Pop Lit, 101 Words, Paper Trains Literary Journal, Paragraph Planet, Peeking Cat Literary, Pigeon Review, Pine Hills Review, Pink Heart Mag, Pixel Heart Literary Magazine, Postcard Shorts, The Prose Poem, Pudding Magazine, A Quiet Courage, Recesses, Riggwelter, Roi Faineant Press, R U Joking?
