Popular interests

Apparently music, movies, reading and writing list as the top 4 interests on livejournal. Also art, computers, photography, anime, books and drawing rank pretty high. But most interesting of all, all of these interests still rank higher than sex. But, when it comes to sport there is only 1 sport that ranks higher than sex (swimming), and it is only one step higher meaning it is still lower than all those interests I mentioned earlier. Curious, isn't it? I'd expected sports to rank higher and cultural activities to rank lower really... and I had expected sex to rank higher, but perhaps some people are too shy about it to actually rank it as an interest :-p

Hmmm... it does make me a bit curious about the gender differences in these interests... there doesn't seem to be a way to find out though. At least I do see a fair amount of women listing sex as one…

Well, vast tracts of LJ are populated mainly by young women. Obviously that puts sex a bit down on the list since they get more than they want of it. It also neatly explains the swimming, which is a…

Well, there is a difference between liking music, and not really disliking it. But granted, along with movies they are fairly easy ways to expand your interests list. I am a bit more surprised about…

Movies, music and books aren't surprising to me, because they're just mediums of conveying entertainment, which is the most general of all (really, who can say as a blanket statement, "I don't like…
