• Some folks may not realize that these Saturday posts are written to walk alongside the devotional Light Through the Seasons. For those who are following along, this is a gentle opening for the week ahead.

This week opens with a quieter kind of light.
Winter light does not rush in or demand attention. It clears.

There is a gentle invitation here to set down what your heart has been holding too tightly or for too long. Cleansing, in this season, is not about fixing yourself or proving devotion. It is about allowing what was never meant to stay to finally loosen its grip.

Like frost thinning the air, a simplicity returns when unnecessary weight falls away. What remains is not emptiness, but clarity. Not loss, but room. God’s work here is subtle and kind, restoring from the inside rather than reshaping from the outside.

“Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” (JSIV)

Winter does not argue with what is ending. It simply allows release so life can breathe again. In the same way, this week carries an invitation to trust that letting go is not failure, but faith. That lightness is not avoidance, but preparation.

What might become clearer if you allowed your hands to open just a little?

If you’re already walking with Light Through the Seasons — the 52-week devotional and/or journal — this reflection is meant to sit naturally alongside it. If you’re not, you’re still welcome here. There is no catching up and no falling behind. Only showing up when you can, in the shape your life allows right now.

The devotional and journal are available on Amazon and Kindle for those who want to walk more deeply.

    Amen and Aho.
