• Why Was the Lord Jesus Anointed in the Jordan?
The Lord Jesus was anointed for our sake. He became the true Holy of Holies in whom the Father declares His good pleasure.
The Lord Jesus was anointed for our sake. He does not need the Holy Spirit; for as God and a Person (Hypostasis) He is of one essence with the Holy Spirit, but He does not establish the communion of life without declaring it a new communion.
Thus, at the waters of the Jordan, He declared His acceptance of the Holy Spirit, so that we may understand that in Him we receive the Holy Spirit.
And when He was anointed with the Holy Spirit, the Son transferred His humanity, united with His divinity, into a declared communion in the Holy Spirit, and thereby three complete divine revelations were accomplished:
First: He revealed to us that the gift of the Holy Spirit for adoption would be in Him, in His name, and for His sake as the Mediator and Head of the new humanity.
Second: He revealed to us the eternal intimate relationship between humanity and the Holy Spirit.
For the Spirit descended upon the incarnate Son so that He would not depart from humanity which believes in Jesus as Lord. Therefore, the Holy Spirit bears witness to our spirits that we are children of God, and cries out in our hearts with the very cry of the only-begotten incarnate Son, amazed at the Father's love: "Abba, Father!" (Galatians 4:6)
Third: He revealed the mystery of holy baptism, through which we become children of God, and which is given in His name as Mediator, so that we may enter the communion of the Trinity in Jesus Christ.
The Lord was anointed in the Jordan with the Holy Spirit to involve the Spirit in the service of salvation, namely the salvation of humanity. Therefore, the Lord did not postpone His anointing but made it precede the offering of the Cross and the sacrifice of His love, so that the Holy Spirit might share in proclaiming the Gospel, in miracles, in casting out unclean spirits, and in declaring that "Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:11).

  • Jesus Christ: Son of God and God
Is Christ Jesus the Son of God, or is He God? What is specific to Christianity, and not shared by any other religion, is that when we hear the word "God," we immediately understand that Christianity specifically does not present "God," but "God the Father." Because in correct Christian doctrine, we do not have any discourse about "God," but rather we have a specific discourse about the "Fatherhood of God," "God the Father." And the rest of the doctrine is: "God the Father is the Father of our Lord and our God and our Savior and our King, Jesus Christ." Therefore, "God" is "the Father," and any talk about God without defining God as Father is quasi-Christian, but not necessarily Christian. Thus, the answer to the question of whether the Son can be both "Son" and "God" is not complicated. As long as the word "God" is the name of the Father, then the question in its correct form becomes: Is the Son of the Father like the Father? If the Father is God, is the Son also God? The answer: Yes, absolutely. But why insist on this faith? First: Because humanity is called to a greater grace, which is adoption, the greatest thing the Father offers. Second: Because this grace is from God, and not from the cosmic order, nor from biological procreation, but it is the participation of humanity in the special relationship between the Father and the Son. Third: Because this grace is the eternal destiny of every human, which is the greatest that can be said about the eternal destiny of humanity: that he is a son of the Father. Accordingly, the answer to the question becomes easy, as long as the name "God" means the Father, and "God" does not mean without Fatherhood.

  • Did the Lord Jesus Christ die a spiritual and physical death together on the cross, like Adam?
The answer is yes, and no.
He took the "judgment" that was meant for us, but He tore up the "certificate of debt" and lifted it away, meaning He removed it from the relationship of communion between God and man. He tore it up on the cross when He nailed it there. This would not happen if the Lord had died a spiritual death like Adam, which is why the Apostle Peter said on the day of Pentecost that death could not "hold him" (Acts 2:24). Because the judgment was issued by the one Trinity, there was no one else with the authority of judgment besides the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The righteous Judge does not give an account to another; rather, according to His goodness, He gives what He wills. For the clay does not dare to ask the potter, "Why have you made me like this?" (Romans 9:20-21)
When we say yes, it is because He truly died, and His soul was separated from His body, which is the same death as Adam's. When we say no, it is because we must not forget that the Lord has authority over life, and therefore He descended into Hell, not as one dead under the authority of death (i.e., Satan), but He descended and scattered the forces of darkness, destroyed the powers of Hell, broke the sting of death, and tore up the certificate of debt; because He has authority over life.
