Some time ago, my two friends and I were in a rural town in Northern Nigeria. We were sent by a mission ministry we are part of on a short assignment to assist in teaching students at a local basic school in the village for a week. The experience we had there was truly unforgettable.
The children enjoyed our presence as much as we enjoyed being with them. We played with them, taught them not only academics but also the word of God, sang together (we brought along our acoustic guitar), and prayed together. The entire experience was deeply touching and fulfilling for us. I can still vividly recall that moment when we all felt a profound sense of purpose and accomplishment in serving God's kingdom.
As the time came for us to leave, a wave of emotions swept over us. The children struggled to accept the reality of our departure, and we were deeply moved by how attached they had become to us in just six short days. Some of them broke down in tears, making our goodbye even more heart-wrenching. We waved farewell, and now, five years have passed since that moment.
One burden I carried from that experience is the realization of the immense need for missions and evangelical outreach. Across the world, there are countless places desperately in need of the gospel and the touch of God’s hand. If only we would rise to the call and use the blessings God has given us to make an impact with His message. There is a call—a profound call—that every member of God’s kingdom must answer. Evangelism is not reserved for a select group of ministers; it is the responsibility of every child of God. Let us rise to this call!
