We often spend our lives chasing what we think will satisfy—a promotion, a relationship, a vacation—only to find that the ache remains. We pursue blessings while neglecting the Blesser and seek answers while avoiding the One who speaks. Whether you are chasing something or not, the question is not, “What do you want from God?” but, “Do you want God Himself?”

David’s response was not ritual, but desire. God calls us to seek Him, and prayer becomes the response to that call. Prayer is not about getting from God—it is about seeking God.

“๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ” means to pursue with intention—to search diligently, not casually. It is an active choice, not a passive feeling. “๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ” speaks of presence, not just provision. God is not merely calling us to ask for things, but to come close to Him. When He says, “๐˜š๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ ๐˜บ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฎ๐˜บ ๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ,” He is inviting relationship, not routine. And when the heart replies, “๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜บ ๐˜ง๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ, ๐˜“๐˜–๐˜™๐˜‹, ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ,” it is the language of surrender, not just sentiment.

Scripture consistently shows both God’s invitation and man’s responsibility. God calls—but He does not compel. The invitation is real, and so is our responsibility to respond. A stirred heart is not the finish line—it is the starting point.

Consider a bride on her wedding day. She does not want a ring without the groom, a dress without the groom, or a ceremony without the groom. She wants him. The gifts are meaningless apart from his presence. Yet how often do we treat God that way eager for His blessings, desperate for His answers, but not for His face? God is grieved when our requests become a substitute for Himself. He desires us to seek Him.

But here is the truth: we could never seek God if He had not first reached out to us. Our desire for Him reflects His love toward us. Christ is the fulfillment of this desire. He declared, “๐˜๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ” (๐‰๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’:๐Ÿ—). We could not find God by our own efforts—but praise the Lord Jesus, who came “๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ต” (๐‹๐ฎ๐ค๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—:๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ).

So, what are you seeking today? —Answers? Blessings? Relief? You do not need Christ only for what He gives—you need Him for who He is. Today, when you pray, pause from asking for anything for five minutes. Let that be enough… Is He?
