Over the course of the years, there have been many movies about the life of Jesus. A plethora of actors portraying the greatest man to ever walk this earth. Seriously. A role that almost seems impossible to properly portray.
There is a show that has been going on for the last few years called The Chosen. If you have not engaged in it, I would encourage you to do so. Of all the shows that I have watched regarding biblical times, this one comes very close, in my opinion.
There is a scene where Matthew is having a conversation with a Roman soldier who is struggling with his sin. Matthew expresses that every morning, all his fears and doubts overwhelm him, but then he settles himself to the fact that all he has to do is Follow Him…the rest takes care of itself.
A very simple concept. A very easy task. Yet, we complicate it every day by trying to do God’s job for him. To help the guy out. To take a burden off of him. We try to reverse the roles. Why? I am not quite sure … to be honest. Seems kind of silly if you ask me. But still we do.
What if today, we choose this very simplistic thought? What if we take today as a ‘trial’ run, as it were? What if we choose today to strictly Follow Him? No take-backs. No helping Him. No, thinking we have it all figured out. Just Follow Him. What if today … we get out of His way?
I have found in my own life that if I just get out of His way, things work out in the manner that they are designed. Additionally, they are much better. Make today a NO TAKE BACKS day and just follow Him.
