*When To Fear, or not to Fear – that is the question*
*Isaiah 41:10* - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
*2 Timothy 1:7* - For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
*Joshua 1:9* - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
The bible is replete where God tells us to not fear. In fact, there are reportedly 365 times where the bible mentions that we should not being afraid, representing a reminder for every day of the year! Despite this many believers walk and live in fear.
FEAR represents

*Evidence*

*Real*
Many of us fear the unknown. We fear what is going to happen tomorrow, we fear sicknesses, we fear death, we fear about what will happen to our children and family, we fear people, we fear our bosses, pastors, influential people. Many people even fear the devil, more than they fear God, even though God has commanded us not to fear.
*We are not supposed to fear men*
*Proverbs 29:25*
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
*We are not supposed to fear the devil but to resist him.*
*James 4:7*
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"
We are not supposed to fear sickness, death or anything else’
*John 14:27*
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
There are many examples in the bible where people like you and l faced insurmountable situations.
Some of these examples to name a few are:
Daniel in the lion's den
Shadrach Meshach and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace
Ester when she went before a king when he had not called for her
Peter in prison handcuffed between 2 soldiers before his impending execution
Most present day believers would have been immobilised with fear and probably died of fear before facing these overwhelming circumstances.
Fear is crippling, it's debilitating, it cancels out faith and brings God no joy...the message we are sending to God is that we don't trust Him and He is incapable of solving our problems.
We need to repent!
Yet the very One we should have reverential fear for...God Himself….we don't! Rather we fear all the things we should not fear.
There are so many advantages of fearing God and holding Him in awe and reverence.
*We gain wisdom* Proverbs 9:10
*We gain knowledge* Proverbs 1.7
*It’s essential for our survival* Deuteronomy 6:24
*We enjoy God;s goodness and refuge for ourselves and our children* Proverbs 13.26
*We receive blessings* Psalm 128:1-4
*It provokes God’s mercy* Luke 1:50
*It provokes God’s favour* Psalm 147:11
*It leads to riches and honour* Proverbs 22:4
*It causes God to remember us* Malachi 3:16
*It brings healing and vitality* Malachi 4:2
*It leads to everlasting life* Proverbs 19:23
Fearing God brings us peace and joy, confidence and contentment, and all the blessings that God guarantees us. It’s knowing that we serve a God who is greater, bigger and more powerful than any situation we face. We need to stop looking at our circumstances and focus our gaze on the greatness of our omnipotent God!
*Saints let’s place our reverential fear in our Almighty God and Him alone*
