GLORIOUS SUNDAY SERMON OF 25 JANUARY 2026 LESSON: 1 KING 19:5-8 TOPIC: STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY, NOT JUST THE START: TEXT: And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” 1Kings 19:7 (NKJV). INTRODUCTION: Many of us begin our walk with God full of fire, full of songs, full of bold declarations. But somewhere between the promise and the fulfillment, the road stretches longer than we imagined. Life tests our stamina, not just our sincerity. God, in His wisdom, does not only give strength to start well. He gives strength to endure, to continue, and to finish faithfully. Be strengthen by the word in Jesus name. EXPOSITION: [1]. STRENGTH THAT IS RENEWED, NOT STORED: Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord “shall renew their strength.” This tells us something simple but deep. Spiritual strength is not a one-time deposit. It is a daily exchange. We come tired, God supplies fresh grace. We come empty, He fills again. The journey demands constant connection, not past encounters. [2]. STRENGTH THAT MEETS US IN OUR WEAKEST MOMENTS: In 1 Kings 19:7, Elijah is found exhausted, ready to give up. Yet God sends an angel, not with rebuke, but with bread and rest, saying, “The journey is too great for you.” God acknowledges our limits. He does not shame our weariness. He strengthens us right where we collapse. [3]. STRENGTH THAT HELPS US FINISH WELL: Hebrews 12:1 calls us to “run with endurance the race set before us.” Starting is easy. Finishing requires discipline, focus, and grace. God’s strength trains our hearts to let go of distractions and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. CONCLUSION: COMMITTED TO CARRY YOU THROUGH! God is not only interested in how you begin. He is deeply invested in how you endure and how you finish. The same God who called you is committed to carrying you through. PRAYER: Lord, renew my strength for every step of this journey. When I grow tired, lift me. When I grow weak, carry me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. PROPHETIC AFFIRMATION: I declare that my strength is renewed daily. I will not faint. I will finish my race with joy and faithfulness.
