While there are no verses in Scripture that command abstainance from alcohol consumption, there are verses that caution and even command the reader to choose NOT to drink excessively and to get drunk. While Paul was happy that a little wine was good for the stomach, which it is, as it has substances called polyphenols, resveratrol and tannins that are anti-inflammatory and support gut bacteria but so does sauerkraut, so also we are taught to flee from even the appearance of sin and surely also temptation. Even so Jesus first miracle was to turn water into wine, although somehow I would think, THAT wine would not have been from this world as it was instant not forged from years of fermentation.
However I think it is better to be filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit and to treat our temple with respect....
